Well as manager at various clubs, he managed in total over 1000 games. So has the experience.

Cannot be a bad thing at all that! If only Coyle had someone like that around instead of his mates he'd probably still be in a job.

Freedman picked Lawrence to assist him at Palace (Lawrence was DOF elsewhere).

I think that shows streetsmarts, bringing in someone with experience who's been around the game.

Agreed with above that Coyle could have helped himself doing the same. Mind he'd also have had to listen.......

Freedman, Lawrence, Phillips and Lee fills me with a lot more confidence than Coyle and Stewart. They might not always agree with each other but there is so much experience there, we should have a more solid foundation. I'm sure the players will put more trust in the likes of Lawrence and Lee, than they would give to the previous managerial regime.

"I'm the driver of this ship," said Freedman. "I will drive it through commitment, effort, desire and honesty. Lennie Lawrence will steer it.

"He's managed over 1,000 games, he's won promotions and managed at the top level. He's a very experienced man."

The 38-year-old Scot told BBC Radio Manchester: "He will help this club tremendously, on and off the field, hence the reason I tried to get him here.

"It will be, I believe, one of the best signings Bolton Wanderers will make this season."

Coyle IMO would have benefited from having Lee and Philips being more involved in the first team. It was clear that since FA Cup semi final there has been something wrong, a change of back room staff may have helped Coyle but anyway that's in the past, good luck to Freedman and Lawrence

"I'm the driver of this ship," said Freedman.
Does this mean he's going to try Ream?
