I'll only believe it if Nixon was in his Gimp suit in the corner choking on an orange whilst he said it.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I think you're making that up. can you point to one of the "usual experts"'s posts where he/she dismissed your ace theory? I'm betting against it...BWFC_Insane wrote:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... edman.html
Point I made on here earlier in the season, but the usual experts said it was nonsense. They can argue with Doog about it now!“When you play in the Premier League you get more time on the ball,” said Freedman.
“There has been a bit of a hangover from last season. In the Premier League, there is more tactical stuff and time on the ball, whereas, in the Championship, teams level themselves out because of work rate and intensity of closing down.
“I have had experience of this division for a couple of years, and I stressed to the players that this is the level and intensity they needs to play at every time.”

indeed - fair do's for finding it...Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Think BWFCi may have a case on this occasion

still not sure he's right, though - and not 100% sure dougie is...
after all - as I said in the quoted thread - BWFCi has often said that championship strikers are (like Vaz Te) are crappier in the Premiership because they get less time on the ball...
I still don't see how both can be true at the same time...

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
it could be that they are up against better defenders who also have more idea about positioning. Plenty top teams are happy to let opponents have time further up the pitch. thats what the whole catching teams on the break is based around I guess,. Against high quality opposition a high intensity high pressure approach can lead to everyone being fagged out after an hour, having not succeeded in getting the ball too often. It's more effective lower down because the quality is poorer so pressure /intensity may be more likely to win you the ball.thebish wrote:indeed - fair do's for finding it...Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Think BWFCi may have a case on this occasion

It's a generalisation though. I seem to remember some of the spanish teams,Barca and Bilbao I think last year playing a high intensity game when they lost possession.Mind they wouldnt be so tired because once theyd got it they wouldnt give it back for ten mins!

So just to cover old ground again then, the further down the footballing pyramid must mean that you get even less time on the ball then.
You really do need to get a life, letting things like this work you up.
Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Getting less time on the ball isn't the same as being against better defending. Players go chasing things in this league in areas they don't need to. Means there is more space further forward.

I think Doogie was just politely saying that before he arrived the players were lazy as fook and that the cock of a former manager was responsible for it. All day table tennis tournaments is not fitness training. I reckon Boggers can't catch the ball due to tennis elbow

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
We joke about it, but I think it is pretty much close to the mark. Coyle and several players have said they just did 5-a-side and stuff in training. Working on the tippy tappy stuff, which is kinda ironic considering we could barely string 2 passes together for the last 18 months.paddypower45 wrote:Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I think Doogie was just politely saying that before he arrived the players were lazy as fook and that the cock of a former manager was responsible for it. Its a joke. However, it's a joke that exaggerates and extrapolates on some underlying truths.BL3 wrote:Only in the parallel universe that some of the moon men on here inhabit.paddypower45 wrote:Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I think Doogie was just politely saying that before he arrived the players were lazy as fook and that the cock of a former manager was responsible for it. Early on in Coyles tenure, Sam Ricketts and Kevin Davies were on goals on Sunday. They were being asked about Coyles methods and they said, that they didn't work on team shape in training or defensive organisation and it was all about small groups taking part in 'touch play'.
They also said that they didn't plan or prepare based around the opposition, instead focussing on their own plan.
Subsequently players have talked about training being relaxed.
It's clear to anyone watching that we were not properly fit or organised for games. Even Jimmy Phillips alluded to the fact that training was not extensive enough.

Didn't realise we were after Curtis Flemming http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... lace-talks
Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Freedman, Lawrence and Curtis are a team. Reading between the lines I'll be surprised if he is not reunited with Freedman by the time we play Blackpool.Debo wrote:Didn't realise we were after Curtis Flemming http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... lace-talks
Still contracted to Palace, concentrating on next game, will have a chat with Holloway later this week = I'm leaving.
If he wanted to stay at Palace I'm sure he would have said so by now.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

Oh god yes!Bruce Rioja wrote:Cheers, Fella. You too. Interesting angle on fitness because one thing that was obvious under Coyle was how unfit the players were.CPFC4EVA wrote:Congrats yesterday!
df is a fitness freak, hence what you saw yesterday. If a player is not 100% fit, he won't play.
Good luck with the rest of the campaign, see you in January
So, given the choice, would you have swapped Freedman for Holloway?
He was the only manager that I would have felt happy with. Anyone else (who was being touted) would have simply prolonged the pain of loosing df.
He's inherited a great squad and he likes attacking football so let's see how he gets on.
Again, to harp on, with dougie - fitness - fitness - fitness!!! This will become very apparent to you guys very soon

Under Allardyce it was fitness, fitness, fitness (mixed in with a bit of tactical nous) and it worked wonders for us...
As said, Coyle's squad seemed to lack drive, fitness and inevitably motivation. It had 'some' flair when it ticked, but that was rare. A new direction was needed and hopefully we can come good again.
