Re: The Tykes Thread
You see apart from a brief cameo in the Cardiff game, I've yet to see any evidence that Ngog can play up top on his own. True he gives us all the above but would the ball stay up there and would he score as regularly as Kev is doing this season?bobo the clown wrote:N'gog can cover the '1' AND give is more speed, mobility and flexibility.

I'd like to debate this with you, but really, have you got any clue about football at all?Harry Genshaw wrote:You see apart from a brief cameo in the Cardiff game, I've yet to see any evidence that Ngog can play up top on his own. Re: The Tykes Thread
Bottom line is that whoever we play up front in this system is seriously lacking in one or more departments based on the choices we currently have available.
It's criminal that Coyle spent 7M on strikers as a premiership club who seemingly aren't good enough to start regularly even in the championship.
But we are where we are. And we need a striker who can offer more up front than anything we've currently got.
If we don't get one I can't see things getting much better anytime soon.

Well I'm aware that you slag Davies off every week whether he plays well or not, or whether he scores or not, so I'd say your minds pretty closed on the subject.Wandering Willy wrote:I'd like to debate this with you, but really, have you got any clue about football at all?Harry Genshaw wrote:You see apart from a brief cameo in the Cardiff game, I've yet to see any evidence that Ngog can play up top on his own. Off the top of my head, this season he was excellent against Forest & Leeds. He had good games against Derby & Watford.

I still think NGog is the one when we go 451. This is not to decry what KD puts in. I just think Ngog provides more movement pace and holds it that bit better. It's a shame he hasnt built on the cardiff performance so far.

but do you think out current best lineup is KD up front and Ngog out wide? (or - indeed - how we lined up today?)
Re: The Tykes Thread
Is that your serious answer? I'm genuinely interested to know what you can see in the others that Dougie isn't seeing?Wandering Willy wrote:The fat kit man if we still have him.89bwfc89 wrote:He's obviously impressing the manager which is more than what can be said for others!! Re: The Tykes Thread
Can't agree with Kevin Davies being in the side any more. I love the bloke but it's just holding us back now.
Whilst KD is playing, the defence and Boggers hoof long balls up to him, and only him, and watch him wrestle with one, two and sometimes three defenders. The opposition can concentrate on KD and not really worry about the rest so long as they can affect the knock downs and flick ons. It's just all too predictable.
Playing N'gog on the wing seems a bizarre one and reeks of accommodating Davies, rather than setting a team out to win a football match. He was pretty ineffectual, and just seemed soo obviously out of position. He proved against Cardiff that he is capable of real quality. Really wish we would give him a real go as our focal point and push hoof ball to plan B or, preferably, C.
Just my opinion, mind.
