Interesting article from the Lion of Vienna Suite...

http://www.lionofviennasuite.com/2012/1 ... ager-wrong

he's scored 5 in 9 appearances, BUT the suggestion is very much that he is a 4-4-2 player - and NOT a lone frontman as he struggles to hold the ball up...

we did once think he might replace KD, no?

Well, he did have one good game against us ... in a League Cup match ....

Eaves? It was a friendly!

I saw his goal at the weekend; the keeping at that level is appalling, it was a deflected pea roller than dribbled in. He did also hit the post with a great shot from range. I dunno, just because he had one poor game there doesn't mean he will never be a lone front man, he's still only 20. He looks a lot better than the likes of Obadeyi ever did.

the only man out there IMO that could replace SKD is Andy Carrol but we missed that window when we had the chance because Coyle was of signing Tim Ream and the like

Didnt we go for carroll before he got expensive but wouldnt offer enough! Long before the likes of ream came in.

nb good player but hardly prolific.watching at the weekend he could even morph into something like the mop haired giant from everton rather than playing up top.

really if that is the case then this football club has a serious problem he is a great striker aprt from the fact that he is the NEW SKD he also scores goals not loads but more than SKD. who can i blame for this

We did, I think that was in SA's time. Not sure it ever got off the ground as Newcastle had great plans for him & ours was simply an enquiry, but they were going nowhere at the time, so who knows ?

One or t'other. Probably megson.Carroll had played a few games but not scored much and wasnt getting in the first team a lot.Think there was talk of a 5 mil offer.Career took off not long after. Zaha is probably the next similar tale of woe but hey at least we got le sulk junior instead.

Eaves has found his level there.

As I've said on the BWSA thread, certainly McGinley thinks he's found his tight level in League 2. To be fair to Eaves he did miss almost all of last season through injury so it will take him some tome to "get back up to steam".

I know this is also what superjohn said but a look at the gasheads forum makes interesting reading. They have been very impressed with his strength/mobility/shooting/pace/effort but he's a bit lightweight(struggles to hold it and not great in the air). His last game he set up two with runs and crosses and scored one. He is only 20 and has had a lot of injuries. One poster compared him to a young Ricky Lambert. It does sound at present like he needs a co striker but even as a loan striker theyve been impressed with the effort he puts into a fairly thankless role.

20 is way too young to be dismissing a player and deciding their level(a mistake we made with Walters). He should continue his loan spell and work on his upper body strength. If he's doing well then his next loan could be at the next level up.I'd certainly be disappointed if they just let him go at the end of his contract. It's not as if we're awash with natural goalscorers

He was a junior ... & the reports were that while the multi-millionaire first-teamers were training he was found in the changing rooms rifling through pockets.

He is, of course, Scouse.

Mind you, this Wiki article is funny to read ;
Walters started his career at Blackburn Rovers's youth and reserve teams where he scored prolifically but failed to break into Rovers first team. He then joined Bolton Wanderers for a fee of £50,000 following interest from numerous clubs. He played in four Premier League games for Bolton ...
Clearly a matter of definition !!
