Exact-a-mundo.
I agree Bish but I'm just not convinced he should be a left back. He's just not quick or mobile enough. He does have a good left foot strikes the ball well and is decent in the air.Reckon he's pop a goal or two in from midfield. I imagine DF may think he's not fit enough and he may well be right at present.
Of the precious few good full backs that we've had within my lifetime, I don't recall any of them being particularly quick or noticeably mobile. :conf:
How many good fullbacks in the modern game are not quick or mobile?
Well, Tyrone Mears is fairly quick and mobile. More so that say Neil Cox. Which is/was the better right back, Magnus?
May the bridges I burn light your way

Folk have got short memories of some of the spunk dribble we've had at fullback if they reckon Alonso is the worst.

If he's coached properly and kept fit he can be a decent fullback. Its pointless keep wasting money throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Exact-a-fecking-mundo! Apparently opposing sides are given to playing wrong-footed nine year olds against him though which make his lot a little easier,

Only once. Every other game he's been shit.
Plus he's injury prone. But he is good at making court cases dissapear (allegedly).

If he makes it under a proper manager fair does - but from what I've seen to date he's up there with Grald Cid.

It was Jason Lowe, I remember the perma-tan.

Alonso is shite.

Well, you may have a point

He hasn't been coached for 3 fcuking years

However....

I'd expect a pro footballer to look like he knows where his feet should be when faced with a winger

Specially a left footed winger playing on the right wing

Ermmm, I know I'm getting old, but I thought it was Duff who spent 90 minutes laughing at him

Alonso was begging to come off

No, Blackburn was when he looked like Roberto Carlos

I honestly think you'd have done better against Duff
