That would probably be I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue (or ISIHAC - as fans call it) - legendary long-running proper radio 4 comedy - used to be hosted by Humphrey Lyttleton who was just fantastic - stuttered for a while when he died a couple of years ago - with several failed attempts at replacing Humph - and then settled on Jack dee who is the PERFECT replacement... it has had dozens of series over many years...

Ah. Of course. My apologies. I just make sure I've got R4 on when I'm in the car at 18:30. And have recently found that his Arthur Strong business is utterly shite!thebish wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:Oh blimey. Re: Today I'm angry about.....
the old staples are still around -
Just a Minute (can be funny depending on the participants - Merton is very funny on this!)
The News Quiz (now with Sandi Toksvig - who I like - and has revamped the partipants a bit lately)
ISIHAC
and i guess you have to try a lot before you hit gold - but how it can have taken them so long and STILL not realised that Count Arthur Strong is simply a bag of wank - I don't know!
couple of more recent R4 comedy attempts that ARE worth listening to (IMHO):
Fags, Mags and Bags
Bleak Expectations
(both now on about series 4)

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
That Caitlin Moron woman. In the Times she was banging on about the women bishops thing under a headline that said something along the lines of "bitchy boys should say sorry" in which she implied it was some all male conspiracy against all women. This on the same page in which a more balanced report included the facts that the majority of the laity did vote for it (just not two thirds of them) and that there were women members of the laity who voted against. I fxcking hate women who lash out at men - keep your sexist comments to yourself, bitch.

there are LOTS of anti-women bishop activists in the CofE.. in fact - of the three "houses" that voted (Bishops, Clergy and Laity) they voted progressively LESS in favour of the change the MORE women were present...

Yup, and then you get a woman 'journalist' (if I can use that term in connection with Moran) blaming men - and not just some men, not a faction of men, not even generic men, but actually blaming all men.thebish wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:That Caitlin Moron woman. Tony Baldry, MP and “the second church estates commissioner” is the official link between the C of E and parliament. He is demanding the C of E changes its mind about women bishops, and fast.
Tony is also a member of the Garrick Club which does not allow female members, but apparently has very nice ties. So, women bishops yes, but keep them out of the Garrick Club.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Some of this might be my fault, being as I'm a bloke I'm obviously biased against women. Tony's obviously a woman if she's demanding women bishops. She's infiltrated the Garrick Club purely to embarrass them, and is doing a splendid job of it.thebish wrote:Tony Baldry, MP and “the second church estates commissioner” is the official link between the C of E and parliament. Secondly, facts take second place to emotion in a good rant.
Thirdly, I'll send all seven a link to the TW and increase our 'readership'

They didn't publish it. On a good note - I therefore haven't plagiarised theBish. It seems, however, there isn't. Just blind bigotry from some small minded people. Thhe Head of Children's Services for the Council has come out & defended her position. Good going for something which is indefensible.
Done in the week that there's a by-election in the town. Not that Labour won't win in Rotherham, but it's not clever.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Admittedly, it'll be f*cking backwards, but what is it?
