in the light of that outrage, isn't this a tiny bit hypocritical??

 Blimey. I imagine Nigel Farage will be spitting. Just as his party may have won some sympathy votes on the back of the Rotherham outrage

More drugs it is then.
Change over to real ale - won't make the slightest difference to real ale prices, real beer in real pubs is already way more expensive than the minimum alcohol price per unit.
You must be on Polish Buckfast or similar... in which case more drugs is an alternative, that or glue.
I'm already on the ale and I don't believe that for a second.
Ah, but that will be greedy money grabbing bastards and they'll find any excuse anyway. My understanding is that a pint of 4% ABV is someat like 2 units which would make a minimum price of 90 pence. If you're already drinking beer at 90 pence a pint or close to it I can guarantee that it's made out of rat piss.
It will mostly affect supermarket prices not the pubs. The 24 bottles of Stella for £10 will be a thing of the past. At the moment each bottle is approx 42p. The price will go up to 90p as it is two units per bottle.

Also, who gets the extra revenue from this increase? The manufacturers because they will be selling less, the greedy supermarkets or the government?

One hopes so. The story is difficult to follow since a 26 year old was arrested and an 18 year old was charged.

The 26 year old was arrested and bailed last weekend. He is still helping police with their enquiries. The 18 year old was arrested earlier this week and has now been charged.

Yes, but were two people involved in this assault or just one?

You should be allowed to drink yourself to death if you want, typical nanny-state shite.

We're run by a bunch of moaning old codgers, the know-it-all doctor's backing it can feck off too.

Fat bastards are getting more common - why not gain the extra revenue targetting takeaways instead? Wankers!

hmmmmm.... if we should be allowed to drink ourselves to death - why the objection to eating ourselves to death? Isn't that equally "nanny state"??? :conf:

This has probably been covered but......... these recent indications of energy price hikes for environmental reasons …grrrrrr!

Number 1….. You stupid fools! The earth has been going through warming and cooling periods since time began and yes the rate it did so has been equivalent or quicker than current…… its not man made, why do you think Eric the Red named gave Greenland its name? der its because it had 5x less ice cover than it has today!!!!

Number 2…… Even if it were man made (and its not) …… then I suggest all you wooly lefty hand wringers jump on a plane to India and the China and then appreciate that our contribution to CO2 emission is minute to these guys and in the next 50 years will be less than 0.01% of what they will be throwing out!!!
You are just making our poor poorer for your self gratification you bloody selfish bastards!!!!!

I don't think you sound angry enough by half to be on the angry thread.

You'll be looking for the mildly piqued thread.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Isn't it true that most scientists disagree with you? Aren't your views thought of as borderline mad? I don't know much about it myself but your post looks a bit loony.

Number 1 Eric was 'Eric the Green' a well known Icelandic hang-wringing liberal conservationist, who got kicked out and had to sail off into the sunset. He was renamed many centuries after his death by Stalin for propaganda purposes (like Leningrad and Trotskyville). It was, strangely enough, for propaganda purposes that Eric the Green named Greenland too - to tempt much needed agricultural labourers to make the hazardous journey across, because nobody after all is going to set sail for your colony if it is named Socolditllfreezeyourknackersoffland.

Number 2 Utter bollox. Complete, total, fxcking utter bollox

no - it's not - really it isn't. A comparison country vs country isn't much use as (you see) some countries have more people in them than others..

a per-capita measurement is a better indicator...

the UK has emissions of about 8.5 metric tonnes per capita

India - 1.4

China - 5.3

China is growing fast - that much is true... no idea why you'd pick INDIA out though!!!
