It was more a reference to the last time we played in the league, when goal machine Fredi Bobic became the unlikely hero.

A healthy win would be very timely. Wonder if he'll put the same side out as he did for Blackburn. It looked nicely balanced(on paper and from what people have said) and is probably our strongest starting 11.

It's not dropping, it's rotating.

Might be why it puts a few in a spin!

Suppose so. Only two days recovery time too. There's just that sense after a performance and result like that you would not change much and aim to get some momentum.

I do see your point and of course it's difficult to argue against the value of another win. However, I suspect long term objectives may win out over any thoughts of short term glory.

So on the back of that he'll probably name an unchanged side! :D

Looking at it a different way, if a certain player had a good game on Wednesday and is rested, then that player has a good game it gives Dougie some good headaches for the next game a week later. If you play the same player twice in a few days, he might be tired/get injured and then his replacement may not have any motivation for playing well because with the other person being injured he's the only choice for that position.

Dougie may have made mistakes (which he's admitted to) but rotation isn't one of them, for me.

Everything I hear from DF sounds like common sense. Starting to get some hope... and everyone knows what that means

Well if he is going to rotate things I suppose key candidates for resting are CYL,Butterfield,KD though you'd still expect them to get some gametime. Problem is except for switching eagles to the right there isnt a good alternative to CYL(Ngog/Afobe have already been tried and it didnt work) If Ricketts/Knight really did look our best pairing he should stick with it.
So maybe
Mears Ricketts Knight Warnock
...........Mavis.....Spearing
...CYL...........................Petrov
........................Eagles
................Ngog

Probably a bit too lightweight in midfield. One of the biggest problems with the squad coyle left behind and what does make the squad unbalanced is the excess of players who have a bit of flair but are pretty much lightweights when we dont have the ball.Put Andrews back in instead of Mavis and it looks more balanced. How long till Vela is back?

only my second home game of season today
and since my other was the Palace debacle
an (any) improvement is the minimum hope - 7-0 win the maximum.

Vela, the guy with what ... 2 matches under his belt ?

New Year I thought.

Actually, I think he's a great prospect, but pinning nothing on him this season really.

I'm hoping DF's had enough of a look now to consolidating his thinking. Shirley Brighton game him some answers in terms of what's not going to work. Hopefully Blackburn showed some stuff which will.

Today, I'm hoping, I'd consolidating his ideas. Then, finally, he can settle on the first team & immediate subs which most on here would have told him at the outset !!

I'd loathe to see the spillage if we blow it today. Not sure I could take another 43 BL3 posts pissing all over him !
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I'd like to see the same team that started against Blackburn, but Pratley instead of Andrews. DF seems like a bit of a tinkerman though, so I'd expect a few changes.

Big Kev was awesome against Blackburn, won everything in the air and it again was just a lack of support from the three attackers that we struggled with. I think Butterfield, Eagles and Lee are all capable of linking up with KD, they just need pushing up the pitch a bit more.

Can't believe I'm calling for Pratley but he's very, very slightly better than Keith Andrews in that he actually looks like he's got a bit of fitness.

Ricketts and Knight for CB's please, let's keep Mills out of the side.

Feel much the same Bobo, not pinning too much on Vela but I do think had he been fit he'd be part of the rotation picture as he's a type of player we dont have many of. Is Pratley better than Andrews in a DM position. I know he's a good athlete but he seems more at home furether up the pitch and he's hardly a tiger in the tackle. Not seen enough of andrews this year to really know but I got the impression he was solid enough in that deeper role alongside spearing.

I think the way we'll get most out of SKD is by only starting him once a week. So I'd bring ngog in and keep the rest of the XI the same.

Ha that nearly slipped by me. I think Dibble is right though,in the system we generally are using the workload needs balancing between KD and Ngog. Sordell and Adobe dont appear to be alternatives at present,Used sensibly KD will be very important this season.
