Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
I'm allergic to anchovy.
Loved the salty little bighters too.
Can you imagine how many migraines ... & bloody severe ones sometimes ... I had before homing in on it being anchovy that was causing them ??
Not to life-affecting. It's only the blighters themselves, not 'essence of' or things like Worcestershire Sauce. So, simples. Avoid the things.
About 15yrs ago in a restaurant I ate a canape & as I did, realised it has anchovy. "Oh well, it's been a long time ... & it was a very small piece" thought I. 5 minutes later the roof of my mouth started blistering ... it became a bit like the inverse of a golf-ball. Then my tongue started thickening & going numb .... then I woke up in hospital wired-up to "the machine which goes 'ping' " and nurses and lights and things.
I avoid the little fckrs now. In fact I try not to touch the tins.
I'm also allergic to canned beer ! Some people view that as pretty close to having a disability.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

^ is the right answer - though I suspect in this case it will not carry that raw celery taste and would be barely noticeable!

Celery is a natural flavour enhancer.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Had the lamb pinwheels that I bought at Westmorland for dinner. Truly delicious but clearly a piece of piss to knock up oneself.

No - we've had this discussion. It's not even on the food chain.Lord Kangana wrote:Celery is a natural flavour enhancer.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
it works grated into onion and stuff as a base (as explained by BWFCi) - I'm willing to accept the flavour enhancer theory - I used some this very evening in a very tasty lasagne...Bruce Rioja wrote:Celery's ace in any form.

"To the ancient Greeks it was associated with the cult of death. Augustine of Hippo referred to it as the Devil's Fingers. Matthew Hopkins, the 17thc. Witchfinder General, regarded possession of it as proof positive of being in communion with the Diabolical One."

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
One assumes that one named "Augustine of Hippo" might well struggle to grasp the concept of non-calorific foodstuffs, yes.
I'm not at all sure that this supports your "these men knew what he was talking about" point.

To warm up and get todays match out of our minds we called at India Gates on way home.
Several bottles of cobra and a red hot chicken samber and all was well with the world again by the time we came out.

Celery's alright, but I'd rather have a couple of tins of Strongbow.

Indeed. I'll tell you another one. You know that cheese that comes in a toothpaste tube? Well, squeeze a line of that out down the middle of it.Gary the Enfield wrote:Love celery. Raw with a sprinkle of salt it's just delightful.
It a perfect accompaniment to blue cheese too.
