Er well you got me there BLT.BL3 wrote:Better tell Mick McCarthy then, he obviously hasn't read the rules.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:it's almost as bizarre as someone believing a bunch of mediocre disorganised players with 2 years of mismanagement and failure behind them should suddently become successful and organised within 2 months of a new manager coming in

I guess it depends on the nature of what McCarthy found when he went in. No two clubs are going to be the same. I reckon perhaps we should maybe wait for more than 7 games before deciding McCarthy is the better manager and maybe not base that on one defeat in a game which we could and should have won.
McCarthy will use a simple system and most likely keep a settled side, would the system McCarthy prefers have gone down well or even been workable with the squad we have? Seems unlikely. Could McCarthy be adaptable enough to find something that would work, probably not. Would the system McCarthy uses cut it in the prem. Refer to previous relegations.
That's why he isnt here.
Why dont you toddle off and follow Ipswich if you love their manager so much. I'm sure they have a forum that will welcome you. nb The previous manager was Paul Jewell. For a bit of fun perhaps you could go on and tell them what an amazing squad Jewell assembled and discredit MCCarthy on the basis that Jewell was close to turning it round. Go on. You know you want to

You accept they were going down had they not changed their manager?BL3 wrote:No relegation from the Championship this season then? Dougie will be pleased.DJBlu wrote:Ipswich only had one fecking way to go
Why can't you accept this with the guy we had in charge? Or is it the fact this man isn't the one for us?

Flat, fat, slow, lazy. All words that sum up our performance.
Fecking Tyrone Mears taking about 5 minutes per throw in, Bogdan taking an eternity on goal kicks, there's no urgency in the side.
You get taught the basics of football as a school kid, pass and move. Well, we do something called 'pass and stand'. I can't recall anyone running onto a moving ball, the play was so static and it's completely shit. Keith Andrews is the main culprit of it.

You have to be fair to Mears here. I felt for the guy. Time and time again he was stood there looking to take the throw when there wasn't a single other player showing for him. Mears is taking a lot of shit from sheep-like 'fans' that just want someone to pick on. Speed of thought is Mears' weak point, not his endeavour.Gail Platz wrote:Flat, fat, slow, lazy. Re: Tractor Boys - the Barry Knight Testimonial Match
I remember after about 3 games of Coyle taking over, someone turned to me and said "its the same old shit that Megson was serving up, nothings changed."
Well, it did the following season.
We're never going to get anywhere if we expect instant results, and some people need to give their heads a collective shake. We have less money now, we have less pulling power, we have less of a lot of things. Blame Coyle if you wish, it was that way regardless, but its no use expecting miracles from Dougie. He'll probably have to do it the Allardyce way, and grind us out of the division.
But lets be clear on one thing, pissing and moaning our way into division 3 because we believed in our divine right to be back in the Premier League is not my idea of fun.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

This is the message that needs to run through the club.Lord Kangana wrote:But lets be clear on one thing, pissing and moaning our way into division 3 because we believed in our divine right to be back in the Premier League is not my idea of fun.
We beat Blackburn because we paid them the respect that all teams should be given.
Any team can beat any team on their day, if you think you'll win by just turning up then you're mistaken.
I think Dougie is rotating to see who gives a shit and come Jan he'll replace those that don't. Well I'm hoping he will.

feckin never thought i'd say this but we missed Kevin Nolan pointing and gesticulating yesterday.
Mears was better than all our midfield yesterday apart from Andrews

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect us to beat Barnsley and Ipswich at home.Lord Kangana wrote:its no use expecting miracles from Dougie.

Re: Tractor Boys - the Barry Knight Testimonial Match
Absolutely not.
But then, the real problem on here is that we need a little more bipartisanship and less bickering between two seemingly irreconcilable positions.
Dougie is not the f*cking messiah just because he's not Coyle, as some crackpots seem to be nailing their nackers to the mast on. He's just the here and now.
And what we need here and now is to get back up as quickly as possible.

Agree with that.
Looking at yesterday's game in the cold light of day, I can see what Dougie is saying really. Ipswich did feck all, had no pressure, created virtually nowt till they scored and we were more or less in control, without creating masses of chances. But everyone in that stadium felt we needed another goal. The fans, players and presumably the manager. Did Dougie throw on more attackers because he felt we needed the second goal, rather than because he thought it was the best thing. I'd suggest so. We cant see out games 1-0. You can't always get the second goal and shouldnt always have to. But however solid we are now, we just always look like conceding one even if the opposition barely attack us like yesterday.
That's a mentality similar to the one we had when Allardyce came in. He had to change it and it took a fair old while to do it. Dougie rightly sees he has to do the same job. I hope he can.
We should have relatively comfortably won 1-0 yesterday but got ourselves in a flap because the second goal didn't come. Longer term until we start seeing 1-0's out there will always be too much pressure on more goals. Chicken and egg situation if you like.

When Mears conceded the penalty a bloke near me shouted "I feckin' knew he was shit"
He was pleased that he'd FINALLY done something bad to justify the abuse he gives him. Because I tell you what, defensively, he's absolutely sound.
