3 hours non stop Teaching lessons in the pool this afternoon. I now feel and look like a wrinkled prune.

i guess a nice hot bath would be a poor idea then!!

Could be tempted later, the pool wasn't that warm. A nice hot cup of tea and a chocolate shortbread are doing for me just now before i brave the cold with wet hair to walk the dog!

i have one (that i rarely use) but my hair now needs washing so there wouldn't be much point drying it to get it wet again. You're lucky Baldy, you never have this problem!

its my daughters 3rd birthday tomorrow, thinking of flying home from London to surprise them. its pains me to miss it, and she had presents and a party at the weekend. im a soppy get tho and i just think it would be nice, in a 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' sort of way to pitch up out of the blue. id have to get the 3pm, get home for about 6, have a couple of hours then back on the 21:15.

folk in here saying its being ridiculous. shes 3, she'll not know or remember. but i just thick so what!? it would mean a lot to me, she would love it, Mrs would be well impressed and id get massive kudos from all the grandparents!

Is a plane definitely the best way though? Wouldn't you prefer a train, where you could even get something done?

Same as Mummy ... do it, not for her, but for you & the Mrs. etc., etc.

But use the train. By the time to get to the airport, get through security, sit around a while, then the plane, plane taxiing & then out & home.

Unless you are right by Heathrow or Gatwick you'd be way better off. Plus a 3pm & 9.15pm ish would both be at cheap rate if booked today.

Do it, i think its a lovely idea. She'll only ever turn 3 once, reckon if you didn't in years to come you'd regret missing it and it will always be a story to tell (and when shes older she will hear it again and think - Wow, my dad really loves me' which can only be a good thing.)

Seriously though, it won't click with her yet but think of it, when shes a stroppy teen and you've just told her she can't do something she wants to and she shouts 'you don't love me!' you can say 'actually i love you so much that i spent 7 hours travelling just so i could spend a couple of hours with you on your 3rd birthday' That'll shut her up (for a bit )
