I've moved back to Holloway at just the right time, was in our local watching them against Everton the other night. Piss. Funny. THey don't like Gervinho!
Also, the Black Flag Gang sounds like something written by Enid Blyton's camp Italian brother. Or something

Its a bit unclear right now just how much influence the board has over Wenger. Was he made to sell RVP for instance? Or any or our other good players, Nasri etc, to balance the books? Obviously he has a transfer budget, perhaps not as much he would like, but i am presuming that Wenger pretty much decides how to spend that budget so he has to take responsibility for some of the crappy signings.BWFC_Insane wrote:What's got to change GG is whoever is driving the signing policy, it's failed you since 2005 and is continuing to do so.
Whether that's Wenger or the board, until you start buying proper established grown up men, things will continue to get worse.
I'm starting to lean towards the 'Wenger out' side after wavering for ages. Seems like footballs moved on but he hasn't.

I've said this numerous times before. I don't think Wenger is arsed about getting big money to spend (big in the sky4 perspective) as he's putting himself in the firing line when he continues without trophies.
At the moment he can hide behind his morals and the cocks that support them buy into it. Truth is now though, there's 8 or 9 teams that play more attractive football then them. And they must fvckin' hate it.

Re: Diving Arsenal Players - The Least Shocking Admission Ev
I think the genuine question that needs resolving is as you say GG, who is driving the transfer policy at Arsenal?
If Wenger is under orders then I'd probably say he's done a good job given resources.
But if he (as is suggested widely by some in the media) is sitting on pots of money (as BB suggests) because he'd rather not have the pressure that goes with spending big, and dressing it up as "his ideals" then he should go.
There is a case to be made that even though he's spent less he hasn't done well in the transfer market *cough* Gervinho *cough*.

I reckon Gary Megson could do a job for Arsenal.
Short term like.
Just in a caretaker capacity for a season or two while the board waits for José Mourinho to become available from Real Madrid.

Re: Diving Arsenal Players - The Least Shocking Admission Ev
Gervinho has been a flop and there have been some noticable big money ones over the years (Francis Jeffers...) BUT for every flop he has unearthed so many fantastic players that most people have never heard of i would say that he is actually pretty good in the transfer market. He likes to win, i don't think he would shy away from the pressure of spending big, i don't think he is scared to, but i think he still thinks that he can unearth these gems for very little money when perhaps thats getting harder and harder as the seasons go on and other clubs can spend huge amounts on fees and wages and the club can't really (or perhaps WON'T) compete.BWFC_Insane wrote:I think the genuine question that needs resolving is as you say GG, who is driving the transfer policy at Arsenal?

I'm not convinced this is a total Wenger problem anyway. We have had so many new players come in over the past few years, good players leaving and injuries knocking the key ones (Wilshere) that i can't imagine our team know each other that well, they don't appear to play for each other, we appear dis-jointed, not connected. Plenty of good individual talent but we are not really clicking into gear well enough. Its just frustrating, i am sure we could play better then we are. I feel like banging my head against the nearest wall when watching Arsenal at times at the moment.

And he buys to a model where you end up with rubbish like Koscielny at the back. And as much as he may be a good "footballer" a centre half in a title winning side he never ever will be.

But Arsene Whinger has a point surely. 24 games to make amends in the Prem, still in Champions League. Hardly a fxckin' crisis is it?

Recently, as i said, he's not been doing so well in the transfer market, but if you look back at his record over his time at the club i personally think he's the best wheeler/dealer out there.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not so sure that he's unearthed that many great players. Anyway, as the spotty one said, its not totally a crisis yet by most peoples standards. Think its fairly certain we aren't gonna win the league this season, but then i didn't really think we would at the start of the season. Still in with a shout of a cup. I think whats pissing most fans off is that the ticket prices are rising as the football gets worse and the board just seem in their own little world.
Re: Diving Arsenal Players - The Least Shocking Admission Ev
when asked about the black scarf movemant did Wenger say "I did not see the incident"

The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

it doesn't have to be that much for arsenal fans to think it's a crisis.....Lost Leopard Spot wrote:But Arsene Whinger has a point surely. 24 games to make amends in the Prem, still in Champions League. Hardly a fxckin' crisis is it?

Wenger doesn't spend big because he's on a profit share, allegedly.

I don't think he's done such a bad job. Theres thems as suggest when the football world eats itself through greed, or the financial fair play rules kick in, Arsenal will be sitting pretty. Being fiscally responsible and maintaining Champions League membership is really no mean feat.

Re: Diving Arsenal Players - The Least Shocking Admission Ev
Well that's my hope really, that the big spending of Chelsea, City etc backfires on them in some way and then we are laughing. He is managing the club responsibly in terms of finance but if you asked most fans whether they would prefer the club to be financially sound or whether they'd prefer to spend big and win trophies I reckon most would go for the latter. Seems like money can buy success in football. Look at City and to a degree Chelsea coming from nowhere in the last 5 (or longer in Chelsea's case) years...Lord Kangana wrote:I don't think he's done such a bad job. LLS - Paddy seems to be settling in, his recall is still rubbish if he sees other people, dogs etc but I can walk him round our local woods off lead with no major worries, the cats still hate him which is a bit of an issue that I'm not entirely sure how to solve though

He's gonna be having his balls chopped off in a few weeks time which might help calm him a bit.
