Have you never seen Olly Smith on tv ?

He's like a hyper-active Boris Johnson.

I'm doing turkey - for the first time - for christmas. there's only six of us - so i'm getting a turkey crown.

I hardly ever eat turkey, and have never cooked one.

Best wine?

I'm thinking a Galician white from the Albarino grape and a NZ Pinot Noir so people have a choice which way they want to go. Or indeed, both if they wish. Or should I go for Burgundy?

Any objections, affirmations or alternatives?

It's Christmas! You can't go ruining it with proper wine. Asti or nothing!

I think Chile is the source of some major supermarket bargains at the moment. I've just poured a glass of Chardonnay-Viognier from the Central valley, Via Sainsbury's. A fiver in a 'half price' offer.

It's a real bargain.

The label says Vina Araya 2011 Reserva. Very good. Get in while stocks last!

The price does sound excellent. I found this site of wines under a fiver - http://winesunderfive.com/2012/09/vina- ... unds-each/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - might be worth checking for you lucky chaps. We don't get much potable for that price.

Well, first time in my life, ordered some wine online.

Tescos had loads of offers online so i chose 6 Chilean white for the missus and for me, and 6 of a Portugese red...based purely on Bruce telling me how good Portugese is :) Came to £50 and free delivery, should be there tonight when i get home.

Just got two dozen bottles from Tesco finest range. Had £60 of their vouchers, which I doubled to £120 in a promotion and spent it all on wines :D

In addition my quarterly Laithwaites box of reds just turned up so, all in all, here's to a very merry Christmas!
