With the window fast approaching, I find it somehow refreshing that the world isn't awash with rumour and speculation.

Whilst I hope there is some movement, I'd be disappointed if we spent big money on anyone. Would much prefer picking up a few hungry folk with something to prove.

Certainly hope he manages to find new homes for some of the passengers.

this is why it's important to give younger players an opportunity. u never know what they're worth until u give them a chance to prove themselves. Tappa overlooks youngsters and constantly chooses consistent underperformers. Alvas used one shot to prove that he is better than Virgo and Palmer combined. Years upon years now Tappa a pick dem two eediot deh and he never gave anyone else a shot no matter how badly they performed. he's obviously blind or jus dunce cause i don't see how a coach can constantly select lovell palmer and romaine virgo with their showings

"Villa are also lining up a £1m move for Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray, 29. With 20 goals this season, Murray is the Championship's top scorer and his former Eagles manager Dougie Freedman, now Bolton boss, is keen to take him even further north."

Is he out of contract in the summer?

Freedman got him at Palace on a free if I remember rightly. Probably only gave him a 1 year deal to prove himself.

Edit..

Nope I was wrong  3 year deal.
Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman has won the race to sign striker Glenn Murray on a free transfer from Brighton.

The 27-year-old was Albion's top scorer with 22 goals as Gus Poyet's side romped to the League One title this season.

However, he will now be turning out for the Eagles against their fierce derby rivals in the Championship next term after snubbing a new contract on the south coast and agreeing a three-year deal at Selhurst Park.

Millwall and Southampton were also linked with Murray but Palace boss Freedman has persuaded him to make the short trip up the M23 to south-east London.

"Glenn is a player who I have been looking at for some time and fits the profile for the type of player I want to add to the squad ready for the new season," Freedman told the club's official website.

"He has shown what he is capable of with a fine scoring record last season in helping Brighton to promotion to this level."

Sounds like Dougie actually has some kind of scouting network as opposed to just getting loans from Chelsea, Man City, ManUtd, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Not sure if it'll catch on round these parts. :conf:

We were apparently waiting for one in particular. He's currently out for a year.

Warnock currently having to go back to Villa till January then back to us on the first. Alonso in contention for a start on Boxing day

Plus Villa won't get Murray for £1m if Rhodes went to Dingles for £8m
Pfffft.

I think it's more likely that Ricketts will shift over to the left. But we need to keep the defence as settled as possible. So I'd actually play Alonso and keep Ricketts in the middle.

It'll get unsettled if Knight picks up his fifth yellow at Peterborough.

And I'd actually agree with that if Mills is still injured.

Murray's £1million price tag could be a buy out clause? player have buy out clause.

After seeing Murray work out for him at palace apart of me thinks he may look at the lower leagues and try another steal... e.g this Tom Pope who's been smashing the goals in at league 2...

Personally I hope he tries to get hold of this Charlie Austin and really piss the burnley fans off I mean apparently Brighton are preparing a 4 million bid for him if the sun is to be believed

Mirror - Nixon wrote:Bolton are planning an ambitious swoop for West Brom’s England Under-21 defender Craig Dawson.

Dawson was born in nearby Rochdale and could be ready for a switch to the Reebok if it means regular first-team football.

Trotters boss Dougie Freedman is keen to bolster his defence and believes the centre-half – who is both young and hungry – has just the qualities his Championship outfit need.

The Baggies rate Dawson at around the £3million mark and Bolton are willing to buy, but may first ask to bring him on loan for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old is frustrated at the Hawthorns and is unlikely to be put off by a drop to the Championship.

He signed for Albion from Rochdale in 2010 before being loaned back to Spotland.

Freedman identified his back-line as a problem after taking charge at the Trotters – and costly defeats to Peterborough and Sheffield Wednesday have stretched his patience.

So this is the experience we're after?! ;-)

I'm sure he knows the division.

Not heard much about him to be honest. Can anybody shed any light?

He may well know the 4th division !!
