Afobe seemed more interested than anyone else when he came on. Sordell........not too sure to be honest.Relentless09 wrote:Question to anyone at the game, even though the game was horrific, how was Sordell ? Did he look interested ?

The lack of patience is shocking. It's clear now that football fans on the whole are just like spoiled toddlers.

Nobody does yet.
Give it a rest you defended Megson till he almost ruined us, then give Coyle time and he has feckin' ruined us, which bit don't you understand? In the modern game you just do not have 'time' ask any Chelsea managers, you sink or swim and at the moment Freedman is paddling like hell so as not to drown.
IMHO Freedman is Megson with a better grasp of PR don't forget our dick head wooden chairperson was awash with Megsonitus when he appointed him and I reckon he's gone down the same track again.
Would not suprise me if we get some grafters in January but you need a little more than that to win things not just stop losing

Is it the same for anybody else - in that it feels way worse the morning after??

Freedman has had 10 league matches now and performances are no better than they were under Coyle. The only good performance in 10 was the one at Blackburn where we won 2-1, but Coyle was able to beat Blackburn 2-1 home and away last season.Gartside considers 11 league matches enough to sack a manager so why shouldn't the fans expect an improvement in that timeframe.

As I stated in my original post its my opinion.wanderers_on_tour wrote:I'm sorry to go off on one mate (and maybe my state of mind hasn't been helped by working in retail on the busiest shopping day of the year) but what a load of b*llocks!davroduk wrote:I see both sides to the argument.
He hasnt been given enough time yet.
He should never have got the job in the first place.
I agree with both.
In my opinion (yes I am entitled to one) he is not, and never was or will be the right manager for a "Premier League" club.
But.............
We never will be a "Premier League" club again (unless someone else takes over the club and throws unlimited amounts of money at it).
We have to resign ourselves to the fact that our time in the Prem has been and gone, and that we just have to become he best Lower division club we can. (Negative thinking I hear you say but that is what I feel the future holds)
With that in mind we have to give him enough time to steady the club and hope that some bored Billionaire takes a shine to us.
Out of the last say, 18 teams to be promoted from the championship to the premier league, how many of those have been actively funded by certain billionaires back to the premier league? How many of these have thrown 'unlimited amounts of money' in the quest for promotion? Lets say QPR from 2 years back and West Ham last year just about qualify but who else?
Again, not including QPR 2 seasons back, Newcastle United bounced straight back to the premier league with 3 permanent signings amounting to £2.75 million, Reading last year only made 4 signings last year for 'undisclosed fee's' (compared to 5 players brought in on frees and 4 on loan), Wolverhampton made disclosed signings of just over £6 million and West Brom in 2007/2008 had a total transfer expenditure of around 2 million less then the income made from sales during the same period. Each team qualified as champions and all did so with >10 million spent on transfers. Promotion can be done, and usually is, without the divine intervention of some 'bored billionaire'. Not to mention the teams who have come second and third in recent years (Blackpool and Burnley ffs!)
Come to think of it how many teams in the top flight are actually owned by billionaires willing to throw unlimited amounts of money in the transfer window? Man City, Chelsea, United on occasion? Its such a quick and easy statement to say you need money to be successful but time and time again its proven to be false (see Stoke, Swansea, Everton etc.) Maybe we won't see the light of the premier league for some years, I like to hope we will, but either way it won't come down solely to splashing the cash about. It will come down to a good and solid structure that this manager, and any subsequent, can put in place and the proper utilisation of existing assets such as the academy. Assets with fellow promotion challengers, such as Crystal Palace, are currently reaping the rewards of, and something helped in motion under the previous regime of our current boss.
You disagree.
Thats your opinion.
Maybe I did over simplify things.
Of course money alone will not guarantee success, but the main point I was trying to make I that I do not believe we will see the Prem again, and therefore we should make the best of what we have got, and stop judging the manager and players by Premier League standards.

10 games and we lost 7 of them and had a behind the scenes full out civil war going on.Martin_Cruise wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Oh dear.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Well we should have won that: they are bottom of the feckin league for a reason, and I really don't give a monkey's that they beat the top team last week either.

This is hardly the same situation.
If we are no better next season I might get a bit worried but not now.
Bottom line is that we are 16th in the championship with probably very little money to spend. We aren't going to attract a top level proven manager. So we have to take someone young and up and coming. We did that with Freedman. Let's give him the proper time to sort things with his own players. Then we can hang him if it's no good. Doing anything else is pure madness.

Jimmy Phillips is 'young and up and coming'. We appointed Freedman because of his experience in the Championship, with a view to 'getting back on track'. He's consistently said that the players he inherited are good enough. So why is he making such hard work of it?BWFC_Insane wrote:Bottom line is that we are 16th in the championship with probably very little money to spend. Perhaps he's still getting to know the players, perhaps he's trying to build their confidence up by not slagging them off in public? Perhaps he genuinely thinks we have great players but it's just not clicked yet.BL3 wrote:Jimmy Phillips is 'young and up and coming'. Whilst we are on questions why were individual player mistakes never Coyles fault, you said that repeatedly after Hull, Leeds, Millwall, as examples but now Knight making a hash of it is Dougies fault? Ultimately it makes little sense as all these players were signed or offered deals by Owen, not Dougie......

Only that's ok because at least he's working on the team's fitness.
This time next year we'll have the fittest squad in League 1.

Individual errors aren't always down to the manager but yesterday was a culmination of a series of mediocre performances since he took over, it wasn't just a bad day at the office.BWFC_Insane wrote:Perhaps he's still getting to know the players, perhaps he's trying to build their confidence up by not slagging them off in public? 5 goals scored.
1. Knight. Fecked up and expected someone else to sort it.
2. Knight. Maybe unlucky to hit Andrews with his clearance.
3. Chungy. Going to ground behind an attacking player.
4. Warnock. Where the feck was he?
5. Davies. Going down like he was shot instead of battling.
Out of em all the first and last piss me off the most.
Re: Peterborough away
Well, that was a long way to go! I should imagine that for any neutral that went, it must have been well worth the money!
Annoyed, were you on coach 3, talking of wrong turns?
It was devastating to be 2 down so early in the game and it really lets you pick out the biggest cretins that follow BWFC. Trying to pick fights with your own fans is just embarrassing.
I do have to say that the pitch was terrible, I'm not using that as an excuse but IMO that game should have been called off.
I think or rather hope that should Afobe and Sordell get some game time together it could work. I wonder if Dougie thought the probability of SKD picking up a yellow was pretty high and with Ngog injured (?? I assume) he hasn't much choice other than to give Sordell a run out. I think it's what he needs and I hope he proves me right.
PT - you may call me a rose-tinter but I can't bring myself to boo. Yes I was gutted, I went all the way down there and it was really shit, how can we score 4 and not win? But still, I couldn't boo. I just don't see what good it will do. These highs and lows in the space of 7 days are what being a BWFC fan is all about. It's always been that way. Booing wont change it.
Having had time to reflect, I still enjoyed the day out, tickets got swapped, standing on the terrace was fantastic! One small positive.

Of course promotion was and is the aim. Shockingly.
One thing that can't be denied about Coyle is that he certainly made it easier to get promoted.
Dougie's had ten games. For a manager to be being slagged off after ten games is a joke. I still think the play-offs are a possibilty, and if we fall considerably short of that then questions might start being asked.
