Genuine question then, cos I dont know. The Hillsborough 'charity' single isn't raising money for a registered charity. The X factor single is? VAT can only be excluded for registered charities? Is that right?mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:The logic is very simple - the enterprise is either being managed through a registered charity or it's not?
Am I missing something?

If so - fair enough I suppose

When registered charities sell something to raise funds it is almost always 'zero-rated' for VAT. This is part of the special advantages accorded to such charities.Harry Genshaw wrote:Genuine question then, cos I dont know. I don't know what's going on here for sure, but the only thing that makes sense to me is that one single is being sold as a fundraising activity by a registered charity and one isn't.

It would appear it's now not subject to VAT.

What kind of parallel universe have we slipped into in which the Prime Minister is personally commenting in the House of Commons on the VAT treatment of specific charity goods?Annoyed Grunt wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-me ... e-20781825

One where celebrity and media intrusion and trial by publicity is all. Compounded by a PM who wants to be all things to all men & in the end becomes nothing to anyone.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:What kind of parallel universe have we slipped into in which the Prime Minister is personally commenting in the House of Commons on the VAT treatment of specific charity goods?Annoyed Grunt wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-me ... e-20781825

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

And they wonder why we laugh at them.

Well, the ref was wrong for me. See in in slow-mo from behind and his arm goes out to the ball. Suarez cheating....nevah....Annoyed Grunt wrote:It was handball.....everyone says it was....but the ref says not deliberate.TANGODANCER wrote:Suarez another cheat goal? If that wasn't handball......

Come off it Tango....it's not like he's deliberately handled the ball in a World Cup quarter final..........TANGODANCER wrote:Well, the ref was wrong for me. Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
The media seem to be falling over themselves to have a go at Suarez over this. Whatever his faults (& they appear to be many) is there a striker anywhere that would have stopped the game and said "hang on ref, I handballed it there - free kick to them"

Suarez is, was & ever will be a tit. It's all righ-thinking people's duty to not give him a break, ever.

Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
I feel a bit sorry for him. Honestly!
In my opinion, it was unintentional. And I've never ever seen a player stop a game and say "yeah, I handballed it" or whatever.
Best bit for me is all the Yonited fans going ape shit. They're obviously referring back to when Roy Carroll generously told the linesman that the ball went over the line against Spurs.
