DOUGIE Freedman is considering giving youth its fling in the first team.

The Wanderers boss is preparing some of his young guns for action, and they could be given their chance as early as Saturday.

The Wanderers boss has been impressed with a few of his youngsters in training and says it might not be long before the fans get a chance to see them in action.

The likes of Tom Eaves, Joe Riley, Chris Lester and Zach Clough have all been brought further into the fold over the last few weeks, alongside Josh Vela, who is close to returning from a knee injury.

With changes likely for Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Sunderland, some could feature in the Reebok clash.

“I am looking to integrate them. That’s what I like to do,” Freedman said.

“The younger lads bring a freshness to the group and we’ve had a few of them come in and train with us for the last four or five weeks.

“They are getting ready for some game time.”

I'd certainly expect him to give the likes of Riley, Sordell, Lonegran, Petrov, Ricketts, possibly Eaves a start on Saturday I wouldn't expect him to bring in all the youngsters, but certainly Riley and Sordell. Not sure that Clough is ready for the big step up just yet.

I've not seen him, but I've heard that Lester kid is quality.. Think he's only 17. Heard the same about Andy Kellett too.

'Time for the kids'? Why? I thought they are all a waste of space and time, a theory backed up by the manager's refusal to put them in despite the sh*te some of the 'superstars' keep churning out!
Seems you were conned out of more money Eddie for the youth setup.

Not sure some of those fit into the "youngsters" category.

We need to try something. We've gone from a position of being unbeaten in 10 or however many games, to having lost more games than we've won in in the last ten. I'm lost as to what the answer might be, but there appear to be no magic bullet salesmen doin the rounds at the moment.

Soon getting to the point where we have nothing to play for, so maybe we should give one or two a try..

We need the championship version of 40 points first before experimenting....mind you...potential shite or proven shite...could be worth a go.

Well no points either way in the Cup - so doesn't really matter for this one tbh.

Tis easy. Drop Knight and replace him with a life size replica made out of cheesecake. Or preferably battenberg. It should certainly stop us from giving away penalties!

For my own curiosity just because to be fair the youth/developments squads are doing well, I know a lot is said about Vela but is there anyone who attends most of the games that reckons there truly are some players who could ever make the jump for the first team? or do you think its a case that the squad is just blended well and most/if not all will be sold off?
