Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
If Sordell is as unhappy in the North as reported and Murray has a clause, that I believe has been mentioned to be in the £1million area, and is reportedly unhappy at Palace then how would a swap deal go down?

Its a sign of where we are though.Whookam wrote:Craig Davies knows where the net is? I'm not seeing it to be honest given that he's spent most of his career around League one and two. I certainly don't think he's a better option than what we've got now.
We're at a point of signing players who "can do a job". Not getting the cream of the crop.
And lets face it, if we get Davies for £300,000 he won't have to do much to repay that fee, and its not a disaster if it doesn't work out.
We're going to need to take gambles now, considering we're in this division another year (in all but mathematical fact) and we need over this and the next window to build a squad capable of mounting a promotion push with what I can only assume is very limited funds.

Is Craig Davies from Leeds?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Apologies, I didn't realise goals don't count unless your in the premiership.Whookam wrote:Craig Davies knows where the net is? I'm not seeing it to be honest given that he's spent most of his career around League one and two. I certainly don't think he's a better option than what we've got now.
He has scored more this season at a very poor Barnsley side than any of our lot including top scorer Eagles. How is he no better?
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
I suppose if we sign Davies and sell Sordell for half what we paid for him then it's like for like with money coming in our direction. In that sense it's not a bad bit of business, not sure I want to be swapping like for like though.BWFC_Insane wrote:Its a sign of where we are though.Whookam wrote:Craig Davies knows where the net is? Eagles and Davies have both scored the same amount of goals this season.ChrisC wrote:Apologies, I didn't realise goals don't count unless your in the premiership.Whookam wrote:Craig Davies knows where the net is? I think a lack of goals in League one and two is quite telling.

I think its more about bringing in people prepared to do a "certain job" with the right attitude.Whookam wrote:I suppose if we sign Davies and sell Sordell for half what we paid for him then it's like for like with money coming in our direction. Think Ian Marshall, I guess.........
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
You've lost me on the Eagles/Davies thing.. Craig Davies has scored 9 this season which is more than either have scored..Whookam wrote:Eagles and Davies have both scored the same amount of goals this season.ChrisC wrote:Apologies, I didn't realise goals don't count unless your in the premiership.Whookam wrote:Craig Davies knows where the net is? He has a record of around 1 goal in 2 at Chesterfield which was in League One at the time and he has almost 1 goal in 2 at Barnsley in the Championship.. I don't find that to shabby.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
I can see Dougie's plan now...
We replace players with worse players in order to make us better...
What a genius!! Why didn't Coyle think of this?!
Oh wait.. He did. And got hammered for it.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
I can't see why we'd be buying a player who isn't as good as our current strikers to be honest. But, a signing is a signing, he doesn't muck about Dougie.

The classic Bolton fan game of slagging a signing off before he's even signed.boltonboris wrote:I can see Dougie's plan now...

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Because although he may not be flavour of the month from the top leagues he is use to playing in these lower leagues.Beefheart wrote:I can't see why we'd be buying a player who isn't as good as our current strikers to be honest. But, a signing is a signing, he doesn't muck about Dougie.
He will appreciate the shirt.. he will give 110% when he plays.. He has never played in the premiership so will want to do all he can to get there. We have to many players who are not arsed and not putting there all into games. IMO these type of players will do us no harm and like I have already said, for someone who apparently "isn't as good as our current strikers" he has scored more in this league in a poor team.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
We're near the bottom of the chamipionship and have feck all money.
We're not spending the millions Coyle spent. And yes it was millions. We're not going to be indulging ourself in the 55M quid wage bill Coyle enjoyed last season.
We are going to be signing players that don't exactly get the pulses racing.
We are going to have to hope that those players can do a "job" in the short term at least.
As I said before we're in Ian Marshall, Gareth Farelly, Barness, Charlton, Ricketts, Passi territory here.
Gambles that may or may not come off. But they'll be cheap.

Where's palace in the league ? Do you think we have a better squad than them ?
Do you think Murray is a better player than say Davo,Ngog

Also, think I read/heard this yesterday, possibly on here... It could be a BSA thing of buying an average player to do a job. If we need that job doing it's a no-brainer!plymouth wanderer wrote:boltonboris wrote:I can see Dougie's plan now...

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Apologies, he's scored 8 league goals this season including 4 in one game. This statistical aberration has inflated his league goal ratio from 1 in 4 to just under 1 in 3 for Barnsely. He will not be able to sustain it. He had a good season for Chesterfield in League One in 2010/2011 but tell me, what was he like before that?ChrisC wrote:You've lost me on the Eagles/Davies thing.. Surely we've a right not to be enthused by the signing of a player who is no better than what we already have?BWFC_Insane wrote:The classic Bolton fan game of slagging a signing off before he's even signed.boltonboris wrote:I can see Dougie's plan now...

I admire your enthusiasm, but I pity the futility of your task.
