I just can't see how he is in anyway a better option than Ngog, and as we are playing with one striker he must be looking forward to some time on the bench. Someone must be on their way out I reckon.

Sordell, it has to be. Which is why I said earlier if Cravies arrives for £300k and Sordell leaves for more it represents at least a half decent bit of business from Dougie.

Apologies, I didn't realise goals don't count unless your in the premiership.

He has scored more this season at a very poor Barnsley side than any of our lot including top scorer Eagles. How is he no better?
Eagles and Davies have both scored the same amount of goals this season.

I think a lack of goals in League one and two is quite telling.
You've lost me on the Eagles/Davies thing.. Craig Davies has scored 9 this season which is more than either have scored..

He has a record of around 1 goal in 2 at Chesterfield which was in League One at the time and he has almost 1 goal in 2 at Barnsley in the Championship.. I don't find that to shabby.
Apologies, he's scored 8 league goals this season including 4 in one game. This statistical aberration has inflated his league goal ratio from 1 in 4 to just over 1 in 3 for Barnsely. He will not be able to sustain it. He had a good season for Chesterfield in League One in 2010/2011 but tell me, what was he like before that?
My point is that whilst he may not be a world beater he will do a job for us in the championship for very little cost. Michael Ricketts came in to us with a not to impressive record of 14 goals in 74 games over 4 years at Walsall and did a job for us and then fell to shit once he left.

It's possible, if he doesn't sulk he simply has to be better than Sordell. More than likely he'll continue to score at a rate of between 1 in 4 and 1 in 3 for us.

What a genius!! Why didn't Coyle think of this?!

Oh wait.. He did. And got hammered for it.

Where's palace in the league ? Do you think we have a better squad than them ?

Do you think Murray is a better player than say Davo,Ngog
Apologies, didn't know we were signing Glenn Murray from Palace.

And yes, I think we have a better squad than Palace.

The classic Bolton fan game of slagging a signing off before he's even signed.

Love it!
Where have I slagged him off? Please show me...

I don't think we are signing Murray but it had been reported that we were interested (probably the DF factor making for easy journalism) and it had been put forward as a suggestion by a few on here, myself included.

Just can't answer a straight question

Would you consider buying Murray a step down ? Considering he comes from a similar background to Davies

Both played in the lower leagues both score goals in the Championship more than our current crop of strikers

Not to mention it's rumored we were interested

I'd go for that, definitely. He's a regular goalscorer, so I'd be delighted with him!

However, Plymouth quoted me on a post regarding Craig Davies. But then worded it as though we were signing Murray instead

Personally, I would be happy with the pair of them. Hopefully then, we wouldn't see Afobe again!

Who is Craig Davies actually replacing?

One of the 2 main strikers I'd assume, unless he's happy never playing?

Unless we're going to be paying the wages of 5 players who are vying for 1 position?

I thought the squad was already 'unbalanced'

Just seems a bit odd to assume something and then have a dig at the manager for it?

Anyway, that's 'assuming' he is going to sign ;)

I noticed Craig Davies getting on the scoresheet a number of times last season for Barnsley and thought he looked like a very accomplished finisher. I wouldn't argue with this one for 300k, I reckon it'd be a good signing.

Looking at Murray's career, I wonder if you'd have been delighted if we'd signed him when Palace did?

Amazeballs as the kids say.

Pretty much everyone on here has slagged our strikers off this season. Davies is old and past it, Ngog is Nogoals, Sordell is more interested in twatter and Afobe is Makakula in disguise has been the theme. The manager has found 50p down the back of the sofa and is looking to buy someone that seems able to score goals at this level. What is the problem? If he scores the goals that the other strikers mentioned aren't scoring then 300k and low wages will have been worth it. If he is Sordell mk2 then he hasn't cost nearly 4m plus probable highish wages.

The main thing that Dougie seems to have done at palace is find relatively unknown/unwanted players and got them performing. Yet everyone is bitching when he looks to try and do the same thing here because we're used to signing players we've heard of before

I didn't want Dougie, but at least let him get on with what he is supposed to be good at. Judge his signings on what they do, not that you think they're shit because they haven't played in the Premiership.

That's because you're not.

Can't see GM wanting to play for Dougie again if he's currently in the 'defensive' phase of his management philosophy.
