Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
What did Freedman actually say that irked you all so? Because in the interviews we got up here, he was nothing but complimentary about the club & fans...SE25_1905 wrote: Fair point. I was as shocked as any at the move - but his subsequent press soundbytes (admittedly for your audience rather than ours) certainly made me re-evaluate him as the club legend that he was often branded about as being.
His re-iterated plenty of times, that he thought the infrastructure at the club was more geared towards being at the top, we have better funding and he made no secret whatsoever about the move also being motivated by money... "I have my family to look after" was said.
Refreshing honesty, really?!
I think the only person who let himself down was the Palace chairman.. Who I've seen describe himself as "outspoken" and "straight-talking" which is usually code for "a bit of a gobshite"

With respect however, that's a hindsight remark as i think you admitted in the paragraph above.SE25_1905 wrote:Fair point. But a manager who is only ever a certain amount of games away from the sack is a different proposition to an in-demand player currently at the top of his game and looking at promotion.
Dougie perhaps was worries that he could have been out of a job by the summer and then a club comes along offering better terms for 3 years....of course he would think about it.
At the time it seemed as unlikely as t'other Palace fan is making Murray moving here seem.

It wasn't about the money - his family's lives were at risk! that's why he came!

Funny how many Palace fans are still reading this forum so often they are posting the second we mention Palace.. Dougie is shit and we took him on an 8 game run so why are you still here? you should be dancing around your own forum.

Your club is always in some kind of shite, and having different multi-millionaire's won't change owt. Two words - Simon Jordanfootball247 wrote:Murray is going nowhere, especially not to you lot, he had a miserable time under Freedman and hardly got a game 2nd half of last season.
Palace are looking to bring players in, not sell, we have no debt and are sound financially
I heared a rumur we (palace) are after chris eagles

We might be shite, but we're a bigger club than you, and if we wanted Murray then we'd get him, end of story.
PS - your ultras are gay

I'd be interested to see some of the press reports up at your end but every one that we got wind of was at odds with what he told us.boltonboris wrote:What did Freedman actually say that irked you all so? Firstly three days before joing you he gave an interview to our local rag where he said he was only half way through his job at Palace and he doesn't leave jobs half done. He then in an interview with your local press said that he was in danger of being able to 'put his feet up at Palace and collect his salary'. Sorry, but what the actual feck? He staved off relegation and then never got to the next phase until the time he left. He said he had a three point plan for us. 1. Stop us getting relegated. 2. Look to build on that and 3. get us back up to the Prem. He achieved 1 and just about achieved 2 (despite a 6 month spell of 2 wins in 25 games) before starting to move us forward - then gone.
He never thanked the club and fans for not getting on his back. Be honest - do you think your fans would be kind to him with a return of 2 wins in 25 games?
But it still doesn't mean that I don't understand him leaving now in hindsight. He was offered a better contract when in his own words 'he only had 6 months to run on his' and he took it.
I still think that is a differenct scenario to a player who is on a good wage here with 18 months to run on his contract with a more realistic shot at promotion in the next year. Never say never, but I feel the board would intervene here.
I personally have a lot of time for Parish and co. I understand how others may perceive him to be a bit media-whoreish but the openness with us fans is remarkable (they post on our forums daily) and they are slowly improving the shit image that Jordan left us with.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
No, you are right to raise that as I laughed myself silly at the idea DF would go to you. How wrong was I. But, in the wonderful world of hindsight, I am (quietly) smugly satisfied as we have upgraded our managerial position as a result. But rollercosters are what Palace fans know. And if truth be told, we sort of revel in it, not ever wanting us to be a plastic identikit premiershit side. That would be even more painful.ohjimmyjimmy wrote:With respect however, that's a hindsight remark as i think you admitted in the paragraph above.SE25_1905 wrote:Fair point. Will Murray go to you? Well, if he does I will be as equally gobsmacked as DF (even more so!), but it will be, I would think, that you have offered stupid money that only an idiot would turn down. As for current footballing reasons, we are chalk and cheese. As for the ignorant comments about him being sh*t, bless.....
Our owners currently sub the club to the tune of £5m per year to ensure we break even. Now that we have the best chance to gain promotion in years, will they put their hands in their pockets to support a push? We shall wait and see.

Yeah, but to be fair, some of our fans weren't happy on a 5 game winning streak in the Prem.
