What did Freedman actually say that irked you all so? Because in the interviews we got up here, he was nothing but complimentary about the club & fans...

His re-iterated plenty of times, that he thought the infrastructure at the club was more geared towards being at the top, we have better funding and he made no secret whatsoever about the move also being motivated by money... "I have my family to look after" was said.

Refreshing honesty, really?!

I think the only person who let himself down was the Palace chairman.. Who I've seen describe himself as "outspoken" and "straight-talking" which is usually code for "a bit of a gobshite"
I'd be interested to see some of the press reports up at your end but every one that we got wind of was at odds with what he told us.

Firstly three days before joing you he gave an interview to our local rag where he said he was only half way through his job at Palace and he doesn't leave jobs half done. He then in an interview with your local press said that he was in danger of being able to 'put his feet up at Palace and collect his salary'. Sorry, but what the actual feck? He staved off relegation and then never got to the next phase until the time he left. He said he had a three point plan for us. 1. Stop us getting relegated. 2. Look to build on that and 3. get us back up to the Prem. He achieved 1 and just about achieved 2 (despite a 6 month spell of 2 wins in 25 games) before starting to move us forward - then gone.

He never thanked the club and fans for not getting on his back. Be honest - do you think your fans would be kind to him with a return of 2 wins in 25 games?

But it still doesn't mean that I don't understand him leaving now in hindsight. He was offered a better contract when in his own words 'he only had 6 months to run on his' and he took it.

I still think that is a differenct scenario to a player who is on a good wage here with 18 months to run on his contract with a more realistic shot at promotion in the next year. Never say never, but I feel the board would intervene here.

I personally have a lot of time for Parish and co. I understand how others may perceive him to be a bit media-whoreish but the openness with us fans is remarkable (they post on our forums daily) and they are slowly improving the shit image that Jordan left us with.

To be fair some of our fans weren't happy after 5 games
Yeah, but to be fair, some of our fans weren't happy on a 5 game winning streak in the Prem. Nowt like a good moan. :-)

That good sir is true

Possibly, Boz, but it's an incomparable "if". If Coyle had signed CD last January ("to keep us up") or in summer (for "the Championship's best squad") then voices would have been raised. I think we've all had a bit of an expectation readjustment since then.

If Freedman (or Coyle) had signed "a" Craig Davies for £3m, it would be daft. For £300k, it's quite literally not a big deal. Indeed, while wishing CD all the best at Bolton, at the moment it seems more interesting to ask if that means the end for Sordell - and more importantly how much we can get for that high-cost, high-profile outcast (Malky Mackay's alleged interest in his old player being very promising indeed).

As for Craig Davies, someone (you, Boris?) asked if he was from Leeds. He's from Burton-on-Trent, he's just turned 26, he's 6ft 2in, and he took his time to get going - but so did Danny Graham, and I'd have him here in a heartbeat. The YouTube clipreel (I know, I know – usual YT caveats plus the fact it's in a League Two title-winning season under Johnny Sheridan) shows a reasonable spread of goals - the odd tap-in, but he seems happy to lead the line and shoot from distance. Not many headers, mainly right-footed, although he scores a couple of fairly instinctive first-time left-foot shots. And he has some shocking tattoos...

As in "Craaaaaig Daaavid from Leeds".

It wasn't really football related. Sorry.

I suggest you concentrate on yourselves. You was top and now your 9 points off top.. Middleborough are up your arse to beat Hull to second so promotion is far from a done deal especially if GM and Zaha leave.

If Glenn Murray and Zaha leave it will only be for absolutely silly money and we will have 15 million plus to spend on new players.

If your owners let you.

And lets face it, nobody any good wants to go to Palace.

Shit hole.

And the most insignificant little club, that nobody really gives two shits about either way.

Who then have to settle in and wont be of the same quality. If them two leave you will not get promotion IMO.

I have nothing against palace and would happily see them replace QPR in the prem.

Ah! No problem. Pop culture references increasingly pass me by. I realised yesterday that I've never heard Rolling In The Deep, which is apparently the one of biggest songs ever ever...

Correct. That's why I said they sub us in order to do so. At some stage they will balance the books and that will come from either promotion or player sales. That's a reasonably sensible strategy and is why we invest heavily on an excellent academy. I long for the day when this whole pack of cards comes crashing about the ears of egotistical players and owners and one day it will. Then we will see who is standing.

Apols for taking off topic. Back to Davies and your £300k striker.

They bought the lad from Celtic when we told them to feck off in the summer so is there midfield not already sorted?

I think lazy journalism on this one.

At risk of leading this away from the 'banter' that seems to be developing - the club is losing approx £4m per year (with the owners collectively picking up the slack). So far we are in their debt to about £12m. They've mentioned this on the BBS forum and have said that we operate in 2-3 year cycles. This current cycle is the final year. The aim is promotion. We do that then they've seen the return on their investment and they'll look to try and establish the club in the Prem.

Fail and we sell a player or two to re-coup the losses. Thankfully, these are nearly always academy starlets who are worth a few bob. The balance sheet restored and we attempt another cycle. This year end will culminate in a windfall from Promotion, the sale of Wilf or possibly both.

We (as it stands) are in a position to resist bids, sign a couple of players and see where that takes us. I am not foolish enough to naively believe that we won't sell anyone this window (and it may well be a player that would be a real kick in the bollocks) but that's life when you are not a top side in the top league. I have no concerns about the clubs who spend wildly as they'll more than likely come croppers like we did in the past.

Whether or not some of the posts here were just reacting to us Palace fans on this board - it is a little disingenuous to lazily label Palace a shit-hole who'll attract no players of quality this window. The point is we're a club that has always been about developing players rather than buying them (our most expensive signings have almost always been gash) and there has been a palpable change around the club this last year or so. Some brighter times ahead for sure (although I realise that none of you probably give a shit  )
