Re: FA Cup 2012/2013 - Third Round.
I've always said that we've got the best fans in the land PRECISELY BECAUSE we don't just turn out in droves for any old nonsense.
We've got other things to do, other things to spend money on, families we like to be with, friends we like to see, jobs we have to go to, food to eat, shoes to wear that sort of thing.
If you are happy spending all your life thinking about nothing else than football then you're probably still at primary school. Once you hit a certain age then there are other factors that should come in to play.
Just because you have a lot of something doesn't mean you have the best.
Where's the quality control these days?
smallprint. We do have a lot of nuggets though.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

The hotel inside the stadium? The Da vere? I think it's called.89bwfc89 wrote:There are some nice places to eat actually. Where are you staying?RaichCarter wrote:Hello lads,
Sunderland fan in peace, although I do get the impression you don't really like us, for whatever reason.
Quite enjoy my visits to Bolton (you're one of the few teams we generally do well against!)
However for this visit, I'm staying over down Bolton, don't suppose any of you could recommend any nice bars/pubs/restaurants for after the match?
Cheers and good luck, but not to much obviously

Here's one for you.
I went in 'Sizzler' once for a can of pop. As I stood there I decided I'd knock it on the head as the place was swarming with flies. Just then the bloke stuck his head out of the back and asked what I wanted. I told him I wouldn't be buying anything from him because his shop was 'full of flies'.
'What you say?'
'Your shop mate, it's full of flies'
'What?'
'Flies.'
He disappeared back in only to emerge two seconds later carrying a massive bag of chips.
True story. Still makes me chuckle today.
So 'Sizzler's' the place I can recommend. I'm sure it's got twelve Michelen stars now.

In which case you're a mere hop-skip-jump from the train to Manchester. I mean, I love Bolton and that, but I would find it hard to recommend a night there over Manchester. Unless, perhaps, you fancy a nice country-pub pint - how's the Strawbury Duck these days?RaichCarter wrote:The hotel inside the stadium? The Da vere? That Ready to Go thread is absolutely priceless..
Lets see how great their support would be, if in the distance between their nearest neighbours, they had Manchester United, Manchester City, Wigan, Blackburn, Burnley, Preston, Bury, Stockport, Oldham, Rochdale, and others I can';t even think of, to compete with for fanbase..
Further out than that, it's Boro.
In that distance, we also have Liverpool, Everton, Leeds, Tranmere and Huddersfield.
I'm not surprised they have a larger fanbase than us..
If anything, their attendances should be double what they actually are!

If I was the sort of person who used emoticons then I'd use a 'popping out eye' one here. What a delightful picture you paint of the town.
I remember years ago the BEN doing a big story on a restuarant in Horwich (can't remember its name) serving....would you believe....SNAILS!

Just reading through now, I get that they are all like Sid the Sexist and his mates, the feckin bellends.HMX wrote:These guys are hilarious: http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=752775" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Their travelling army of around 400 should also be commendedSomeone hasn't done their research this season.
They are even cock waving amongst themselves about someone missing a game to watch Rangers

They should be more concerned about why they can't fill their own ground for Premier League games, considering how they're such a massive club...

I've been to third round games against macc; york; luton(?) recently. Its the watching a definite yawnfest that puts me off. At any price. Martin O Neils teams set up to grind results. Dougies would if they could. Its gonna be SHIT.
I have stuff I wanna do instead. We haven't played good football for years. I dont need to feck* justify myself to some sunderland drones anyway. I actually like Sunderland the mates i had up there were a lot moregrounded and normal than geordies. Boring outfit at the moment though.

Mix and match team v the mighty Sunderland. Got to hope and predict a 2-1 win.

Re: FA Cup 2012/2013 - Third Round.
Considering a Premier League team down the road from us is going to be pretty much outnumbered by Bournemouth, I don't think we've got too much to worry about it.
By a stroke of luck (or lack of it), I've managed to rearrange a family commitment in Bolton to take place between 2pm and 5pm....ticket for North Lower just bought online!
Can't say I'm too bothered about Sunderland's cock-waving about their support (or indeed Sunderland as a club full stop, realistically). Well done to them for their away following, can't knock the numbers they're bringing, but it does get a bit tiresome after a bit. Our away followings this season have been pretty decent as well, I'd say.

They're a bit bonkers up there aren't they? Didn't they get umpteen thousand turn up to a reserve match where a new signing of Peter Reids was going to be making his debut? Iirc, it was a South American bloke Reid had confused with a better player with a similar name
Can only assume they don't have much better to do apart from several pints of broon ale and then home to knock the missus about a bit

Cant really say I care too much that a bunch of Sunderland fans think were a joke of a club because nobody wants to go see them grind out a mind numbing 0-1 against us.
We'll probably go out, nobody will be too bothered and we can set some lucky miracle play off promotion as our goal for the rest of the season.
