Having "a quiet one" with the Mrs & bobo jnr #1 with paella, lots of wine & Jools Holland.
That'll be just fine.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Followed by a rather good firework display.

So, last night, as mentioned earlier, I went watching Mica Paris at The Jazz Cafe in Camden. As (the utterly brilliant) Mica Paris is singing away I get talking with this girl at the bar. My question "So what brings you here then?" was met with "To watch my mum sing"!!!!

May the bridges I burn light your way

Re: Where are you going tonight?
General, I've just seen this for the first time whilst looking for something else.General Mannerheim wrote:Its a bit shit being away from home all week, kindda gets you down but i was talking to a mate last week who reckons im wasting the opportunity of living a single life in one of the best cities in the world! I think he has a point. I just potter about like i would at home, gym, play squash, summat eat, flicks... so ive decided to start trying do summat more interesting at least once a week.
Ive applied for loads of tv show recordings, im dying to see the inside of a tv studio and see how it all happens. I don’t like gigs, i prefer the work of a DJ but to enjoy this sort of fayre i need to be drunk or high or both, and im in at 6.30 every morning so thats out. One idea might be going to see a few plays? Never seen a play, not really sure where to start with this? There are loads of exhibitions all over the place that i need to start taking advantage of, museums too but they tend to close at 5pm. Another option is comedy. This seems to be favourite and easy to arrange. Have already been to a pre-run of Live at the Electric where Russell Kane turned up and did a turn, he was quality. And tonight its new material night at the comedy bar in Islington, so that should be good. Another other ideas welcome?
How are you getting on with this? Are you still in London all week in 2013? My mrs went to drama school down here and so is well connected for cheap tickets for plays etc if this is something you still fancy.

Been up west to see Les Miserables.
How have I gone 32yrs without seeing that!? I thought it was astonishing.

Did the random singing not do your head in? Because, I must be wrong about musicals. Some of them at least. I mean, I know Cats is shit, and West Side Story, but I think Les Mis, being Victor and all, must be one I could like. Worth the 50 notes?

well we turned up on the off chance but it was sold out so got in the queue for potential returns and eventually got in for £65 each! (27 years running and its still packed out on a Monday night in friggin January!) more than i’d anticipated paying but once your there n’that youre kindda locked in, we turned down a pair @ £85 earlier... we had cracking seats, and id pay it again tbh.Prufrock wrote:Did the random singing not do your head in? The random singing isn’t really random given that the entire dialogue is spoken ‘in tune’ which is a bit pointless as it doesn’t always rhyme but the songs were fantastic. its a musical so you know what to expect. The girl who played Eponine was my favourite (she was fit too) and Monsieur Thenardier was brilliant as well, they bring a bit of humour to the show. I just thought it was great. the singing, acting, costumes, set, atmosphere, orchestra. Everything about it.

I had bambi on Saturday, usually stick to daisy but was adventurous
He had pheasant on, too
Its generally traditional/Italian, which is where they are from, but they've been in there the best part of 30 years
Looking to sell now as the trade they had, isn't there any more
They used to have 30 in most lunch times - business lunches off the standard menu
Now they're lucky to open twice a week
He could compromise and run a different type of restaurant, but he's not interested
Duke William is now shut and the White Horse up for sale
Its grim up north Bolton

Current Eponine is great, isn't she? So much so it's actually slightly disruptive as you can't imagine why Marius goes for Cosette instead.
For me the current Valjean isn't up to scratch as either an actor or a singer, and the staging in the Queen's Theatre is more 'intimate' than it used to be in the Palace, which sometimes is good, but for me it loses a bit of the 'epic' feeling it used to have.
