Went to a pub/restaurant on the road to Tottington (Victoria/ Queen Victoria?), about three months back Nice enough place, friendly etc and decent food with a fair selection. Only about 12/15 folk in all night and only half-a-dozen eating. With the outside lighting/cooking and staff costs etc, it makes you wonder how they manage to stay open at all. This place had its own chicken run down the side of the pub so, fresh eggs and most likely fresh chicken too.

Current Eponine is great, isn't she? So much so it's actually slightly disruptive as you can't imagine why Marius goes for Cosette instead.

For me the current Valjean isn't up to scratch as either an actor or a singer, and the staging in the Queen's Theatre is more 'intimate' than it used to be in the Palace, which sometimes is good, but for me it loses a bit of the 'epic' feeling it used to have.

When the show first opened they had a male singer (Anton Rogers?) who was really great. Saw excerts from it on TV at the time and was well impressed by him. Won't get to the live show but I'll be looking out for the film which look to have good reviews.

Did the random singing not do your head in? Because, I must be wrong about musicals. Some of them at least. I mean, I know Cats is shit, and West Side Story, but I think Les Mis, being Victor and all, must be one I could like. Worth the 50 notes?

Cats is shit and WSS is an acquired taste.

You'd enjoy Cabaret, Chicago, Legally Blonde, Lion King, The Scottsboro Boys, Jersey Boys, Ghost, Singin in the Rain, Hay Fever, The Book of Mormon etc.

Would I send you to see Wicked? Certainly not.

They have certainly had some good ones over the years (not actually an Alfie Boe fn myself, as it goes), but the current one came from Spanish productions and the West End is a massive step up for him.

well we turned up on the off chance but it was sold out so got in the queue for potential returns and eventually got in for £65 each! (27 years running and its still packed out on a Monday night in friggin January!) more than i’d anticipated paying but once your there n’that youre kindda locked in, we turned down a pair @ £85 earlier... we had cracking seats, and id pay it again tbh.

The random singing isn’t really random given that the entire dialogue is spoken ‘in tune’ which is a bit pointless as it doesn’t always rhyme but the songs were fantastic. its a musical so you know what to expect. The girl who played Eponine was my favourite (she was fit too) and Monsieur Thenardier was brilliant as well, they bring a bit of humour to the show. I just thought it was great. the singing, acting, costumes, set, atmosphere, orchestra. Everything about it.

ha, we said exactly the same! yeah Eponine is lovely!

We didnt have the normal bloke, we had a stand in called Chris Holland - he was pretty flawless to my novice eyes & ears. i enjoyed the intimacy, but came home and watched youtube vids of the 25th anniversary staging at the O2, that certainly looked epic!

Was okay but, for me, nothing special. Family loved it but I couldn't help thinking that for the same price as I paid for four here I could have got me and the wife our two season tickets for the Octagon and seen nine plays there instead. Standing ovation at the end so it must have been just me being a miserable git.

Just got back from 'One Man Two Guvnors' at the Lowry. The funniest show I have ever seen. Tears rolling down face! Rufus Hound very funny, lots of interaction with audience, lots of live music, just brilliant.

Only on for two more nights. If you possibly can get tickets!

Just got back from 'One Man Two Guvnors' at the Lowry. The funniest show I have ever seen. Tears rolling down face! Rufus Hound very funny, lots of interaction with audience, lots of live music, just brilliant.

London show is a bit stupid if you ask me. Depends if you like slapstick generally. Can't think where live music comes in apart from the interval?

^ Every scene change there was a skiffle group called the Crazies would jump on stage and perform for two minutes. They were also on stage prior to the performance for 20 minutes whilst everyone took their seats and again during the interval. Very good too. Not sure I'd call it slapstick, bordering on farce perhaps, and, yes, someones trousers did fall down.
