This gets it about right. I don't think he's the solution to our goalscoring problems. But for 300,000 you wouldn't expect that.Lord Kangana wrote:So just better than 1-in-4 if I read that right.
A useful, solid addition for a good low fee, but I'm worried the expectation level on here is already crushingly high.
I expect a hard worker with a bit of mobility who will do ok but not rip up any trees.
Hopefully he can do whatever job Dougie has earmarked for him.

If you really think that, then are you not asking yourself "why the fvck have we signed him?"BWFC_Insane wrote:This gets it about right. I don't think he's the solution to our goalscoring problems. I think it's fair to say we're probably one of the better teams he has played for, He's (Hopefully) going to get better service and better teamplay. He's going to be training better also. I think it's a good bit of business and I hope it works out.
It ain't easy, Sleazy even, Deceiving those we, Believe in.
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
His goal record seems much better than any of the rest, but at a lower level. He'll get more chances playing for us than he did Barnsley. I'm hopeful he'll be an improvement on what we have, but am not expecting him to score 20 between now and the end of the season either. Solid signing, I reckon, but not going to be the difference on his own.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
We've signed him because we are in the bottom half of e championship and have no money. So we need players who will do certain jobs the manager has identified as being required. Hopefully players who will roll their sleeves up and die for the cause.boltonboris wrote:If you really think that, then are you not asking yourself "why the fvck have we signed him?"BWFC_Insane wrote:This gets it about right. But not score?
Because here's me thinking we need somebody to stick the ball in the back of the bet on a regular basis

We don't need scorers, keep up.boltonboris wrote:But not score?

We just need grafters and folk who don't mind an extra half hour preparation before kick off.
And fans who need to get used to seeing us lose. We need them too.
Oh and improved fitness. And protecting the safety of our families.
That's the way back to the top flight.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Apologies, took that info from his wikipedia article which appears to have since been edited. Probably being messed around a bit with his transfer.boltonboris wrote:Jez wrote:He scored 4 goals in 19 minutes in one game, if n'gog tried that he'd be sent off halfway through
hes also got 7 goals in the 7 league games hes played for barnsley this season which is probably higher than n'gogs career total![]()
He's played for Barnsley 18 times this season.......
Does sound like he can find the net, the question is whether his apparent inconsistancy is down to the team, his position being messed around with or just simply him. I suppose we'll figure it out soon enough but if he does fall flat atleast it wont be a coyle-esque pissing away of millions.
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Built like a brick outhouse, holds the ball up well, good feet, strong...................whisper it, but he's the new SKD.
Reading between the lines, Dougie is a tad pished off with our prem 'stars' who aren't finding the net at a lower level and to be fair, he probably has a point. Bringing in a bloke on relatively low money who is hungry to prove himself and win an improved contract can only be good for us. 3 more in on similar terms and personally, I'll be a happy bunny.

Without, in any way setting the poor sod up for a fall, we signed ex Yeovil & Bury player John McGinley from Millwall while he was struggling for a place there.
So success or otherwise is very hard to predict.

Aye, do you know any of those knocking around for £300,000 or less?boltonboris wrote:But not score?

If he's not the 'solution to our goalscoring problems', we've just wasted £300,000.BWFC_Insane wrote:Aye, do you know any of those knocking around for £300,000 or less?boltonboris wrote:But not score?

the question remains, though - if you are saying we are not signing him for his scoring prowess - then what ARE we signing him for, given that we don't seem to be short of strikers whose main quality isn't scoring goals...BWFC_Insane wrote:Aye, do you know any of those knocking around for £300,000 or less?boltonboris wrote:But not score?

I'm sure there are no players we have signed - struggling for a place in another team - who have turned out to be shoite!!
huzzah!!!

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
When did he actually sign? The last time we signed a 26 year old striker called Davies it turned out pretty well. This is important!

Because dougie clearly feels he will give us sommat we are missing. I've not seem him play many times so we will just have to wait and see.thebish wrote:the question remains, though - if you are saying we are not signing him for his scoring prowess - then what ARE we signing him for, given that we don't seem to be short of strikers whose main quality isn't scoring goals...BWFC_Insane wrote:Aye, do you know any of those knocking around for £300,000 or less?boltonboris wrote:But not score?

I suspect that we'd not have gone near if he'd been a million quid. He might be a cheap solution who works hard for the team gets the odd goal and may well be a better option than some of the ones we've got who aren't exactly always helping the team out.
Or maybe he won't.
But for 300K it's relatively low risk.
