Aye, do you know any of those knocking around for £300,000 or less?
the question remains, though - if you are saying we are not signing him for his scoring prowess - then what ARE we signing him for, given that we don't seem to be short of strikers whose main quality isn't scoring goals...
Because dougie clearly feels he will give us sommat we are missing.
any guesses as to what?? what are we missing in the striker dept. other than goals??

Someone capable of running the line, but of mobility, bustling defenders, hold it up, that sort of thing.

Basically the sort of thing KD used to be really good at week in week out.

We don't have anyone who can lead the line.

I'm not writing him off - I know nowt about him - I am just intrigued by the suggestion that we have bought a striker that we don't expect will score many goals - nor should we expect him to - and that there might be some other job we need a striker to do...

are you suggesting we should play more 4-4-2 then? or are you expecting the midfielders to feed off him?

So success or otherwise is very hard to predict.
One Michael Ricketts was signed for £250k and a Eidur Gudjohnsen for free. You can't predict owt or else who would have thought that Michu costing £2.2m would outscore strikers that have cost upwards of £25m
Pfffft.

I prefer one up front. Part of the problem is we don't have anyone up front who has lead the line consistently this season.

Having another option can't hurt.

Beyond that we will just have to wait and see.

A useful, solid addition for a good low fee, but I'm worried the expectation level on here is already crushingly high.
Aye, seen him described as 'knowing where the goal is' when clearly he's not prolific.

with your one up front - craig - who we haven't signed to score goals - who do you expect will score them?

We need to share them around the team. And Craig can I'm sure chip in with some goals.

It would be ace to have a 25 goal a season striker but until we can find and/or afford one we need to make sure that goals are shared around the team. Having someone effective at leading the line, and hopefully Craig is an option there, will help that. Like all those seasons when a non prolific K Davies did the same job in the top flight.

I thought craaaaiiig davviees looked handier than our kevin when he played against us. He looked strong and held thr ball up well. He'll do fer me.

A regular goalscorer would go a hell of a way towards sporting us out. Itis one of quite a few problems.

No idea about yon slovakian. He's not young like 16 young so should be in and around the first team?

'The Burton upon Trent-born....' Ergo: fecking good sort! *halo*
:? What's special about Burton upon Trent? (apart from its beer, and even that's mostly in the past)
That those born there are fecking good sorts. Did I not make it glaringly obvious? :conf: Oh, and Marmite 8)

That's because no one had an opinion on Greg Wylde and Joe McKee...One way or another. ;-)

I seem to recall quite a discussion about fairies. :-)

At least Dougie's getting his business done early.

Sees it. Goes after it. Get them in early and get them blooded!
