Re: Petrov to Espanyol
If we were to employ him at all, he was/is a very fast winger. He was direct, he was a good crosser of the ball and very good with dead balls also.thebish wrote:how SHOULD we have used him?bobo the clown wrote:Maybe because he isn't "a lazy toser" ... and he IS that good .... we've just not used him well.
So, given that he was there we should have fed the ball to him more, we should have had strikers able & willing to 'get in the box' and meet his crosses.
Otherwise, it was/is pretty pointless having him there.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

or... maybe he could have found a way to slightly adapt his game rather than simply bang crosses into the area and shrug his shoulders saying that it ain't his fault that nobody is ever there...

And as you say Bish his game was somewhat predictable.
I think Pru summed it up that Petrov was nowhere near good enough to get away with the lack of effort he seems to put in.
Lee has struggled this season but at his best he has an awful lot more to his game than Petrov and also works hard.

Oh well, I'll always remember his goal against Blackpool.
Re: Petrov to Espanyol
stand him on the line so the occasional shot at goal bounces off him and then walk him up the pitch for penalties of coursethebish wrote:hardly an inquisition!!jaffka wrote:Are you part Spanish?thebish wrote:bobo the clown wrote:Maybe because he isn't "a lazy toser" ... and he IS that good .... we've just not used him well.
