Today I'm happy about...starting the second year of my relationship with the missus. Had a celebratory night out last night for our anniversary, and it's left me on rather a high. I'm going to try my damndest not to let the football ruin it...

After feck all sleep due to the 24 hour race at the autodrome down the road I've actually had a good day. Went fishing up in Umm Al Quwain. Didn't catch anything but was great to get some warm sun and peace and quiet out on the water.

Bliss. Can't wait for some warm weather to get out to look at the vast expanse of the Med around Capri again this year.

I took this photo last summer:

Not really. It is my bother in law's boat and he's gotten into fishing. I love sailing, so just tag along for the ride and to get out of Dubai for a bit. I'm more into sail boats, but beggars can't be choosers as they say.

Paying for it today mind. Fecking freezing (relatively speaking). Had to ditch the shorts and t-shirt for warmer attire this morning :(

Consider yourself lucky. It is not going to get above freezing all day today and we have snow forecast from 4pm onwards. Early tomorrow we will have sleet and rain so it should be an interesting drive for commuters.

In the next 5 days the temperature will be between 1 and -4 Deg C. Do you want to swap your chilly weather for ours?

I've 'earnt' some shorts n t-shirt weather :P 2 months of 50c + sandwiched between several months of 40c + weather is no picnic. With cold weather you can wrap up and go out. Might not be overly pleasant, but at least you can go out. 55c melts you quite literally. More than a couple of minutes and you feel ill. You take turns at running to the car to start the air con and dash back to the house. Next time we're getting a car with remote start! Also, since August I've had a temperature drop of 40 odd degrees. It is what you get used to

Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of reason to be here. The weather is stupidly hot for a very large chunk of the year. Given a choice I'd prefer a Mediterranean climate and have a colder winter and cooler summer.

Rrr right

I wouldn't mind a bash out there, bet the fishing is brilliant

I use to sail when I was a kid, I loved it, been round boats my whole life and now I build them for a living

I got a little shetland 535 atm, brilliant boat for pottering around the river

We usually stick around the lagoon. Partly because we can't accidentally end up in Iran and partly because the lagoon is really nice anyway. We usually catch a few barracudas. Nasty little buggers they are, but then again, I'd be a bit nasty being man handled! Loads of hammour about as well. Yesterday we mostly caught sea weed

The boat is a locally made one, so no idea what it is called. It is 21ft. I used to sail on one of these:

The yacht was chartered, though you can pick older ones up fairly cheap. It's the upkeep that kills you!

Save up. Sounds like it'd be worth it for you.

I can put up with a wet, cold winter as long as we have a 'reasonably' warm, dry summer. 2012 was so wet I feel as though we've gone from winter to autumn to winter again.

I really couldn't cope with the 50 Deg C temperature though. You can keep that.
