ok, it was just a strange way to phrase it, like it's in the football writer's magna carta that they have to contribute a transfer rumour, and that he has somehow failed them if he hasn't...!jaffka wrote:by posting something that you have heardohjimmyjimmy wrote:How can you contribute a rumour?jaffka wrote:being in the football press, have you ever contributed any transfer rumours?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Ah, so it's a Nixon rumour? He did, he's just being disingenuous by denying that. A quote from him:thebish wrote:SmokinFrazier wrote:You rated him when we were in the Premier League.BWFC_Insane wrote:Watch the games then. Cost us the goal against Millwall. Sloppy.
One of the poorest players I've seen turn out for us in a long time.
I don't think BWFCi did....
"Mark Davies, Sordell, Ream, Bogdan all have the potential to be top flight regulars year in year out."
Of course, several bad games now means he's the worst player to ever grace English football in some hyperbolic minds...
Like I said, Wheater and Ream were a good partnership, and it's not like Wheater was carrying Ream either. The issue with Ream in a physical division is his size and strength, but he has plenty of ability.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Yeah, I could see that working. He's better on the ball than any of our defenders, so maybe he could sit in front of the pair at the back, offering more going forward and giving them protection? I think it'd be worth trying him out at left back too. He might make a good defensive minded full back.
I don't look at him and see an untalented player. I just don't think he's a central defender in the more physically demanding Championship, which doesn't mean he has nothing to add.

Yep he's ace. Apart from in your own words, not being able to do the job he is a) paid for and b) we need.SmokinFrazier wrote:Yeah, I could see that working. ^ I tend to agree with this and perhaps its another example of Coyle's folly. To his supporters he was reducing the wage bill and being careful with the clubs finances but he still managed to spend 2.5m for a centre back that most seem agreed will never be a centre back in the Championship!

we need someone who can dominate but also deserve their place in the team, at this level Richard Dunne is someone who would spring to mindBWFC_Insane wrote:Yep he's ace. **disclaimer** I am not saying that we should sign Dunne, or that he would come to us but am using him as an example as the sort of person who will put their body on the line and be a first team regular

@jaffka, I love the disclaimer though surely some of it will fall on stoney ground.

Ream is performing at a fecking damn sight better level than Knight and Mills are at the moment.

He's one of the top earners, yet IMO far from one of the top players. He was shit on Saturday. 1 decent moment in the whole match with the run and the cross.Prufrock wrote:I'd be keeping Ricketts unless he was on astronomical wages. Merely because he isn't THAT shit, and is versatile.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Ream is scared of the ball. Which, for a supposed ball playing centre back, is a bit of a worry. He can't run, he can't jump, he can't read the game, he can't tackle and he can't trap or pass the ball. The ball bounced over his head at one point because he was shitting himself too much that their big lad was gonna spin him again.SmokinFrazier wrote:He did, he's just being disingenuous by denying that. Wrong attitude, no belief, no ability. Get rid.

That'd fit Dougies 'lower wage, lower age' arguements !!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
The attributes needed for a Championship are different to what a Premier League defender needs. Similarly, some of the 5'10" defenders in La Liga or Serie A would struggle in the Premier League.BWFC_Insane wrote:Yep he's ace. It's not a question of just ability. There's far more to it than that. Ream was signed to be a Premier League defender, which he did well at, but his attributes aren't suited to being a central defender in this league, unless alongside someone far better than Knight.
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
When OC was manager we signed too many flashy players at the expense of players who were more physical, committed, and were leaders. It's awful to see our cast offs like Abdoulye Faye right up in second place contributing a massive amount to Hull and we have players like Petrov who will be on much bigger wages and contribute almost nothing. I'm glad he's gone, it's important that DF addresses the value for money aspect of our squad. I think he's doing this, the Craig Davies transfer is good business. I think he has the qualities we lack. Between SKD, Sordell, Afobe and Ngog they've got 71 apps and 13 goals, Craig Davies has 8 goals in 20 games for a team that create fewer chances. and I *imagine* he's on much lower wages than any of them, and certainly a tiny fraction of their combined wages. For a fee of just 300K, you could now get rid of three of our strikers and lose nothing on the pitch but gain a chunk of wages. When your stuck with overrated, overpaid players it just seems very sensible to replace them with cheaper better ones and ship out ones like Petrov, Knight, Ream, etc... If the Nixon rumor is true and Knight and Ream are being shipped out too then excellent, can't wait.

Who is Nixon? How does he know about our transfers?
Who is online
