Dougie Said...

“He’s not quite there in terms of intensity,” he said. “He will possibly be there in a week."

Why is this one of the most common things we've heard when signing players? Didn't we have the same sort of situation when we signed Sordell?

Get them in there. Give the team a breath of fresh air. Let the fans hope that he may yet be the next big thing add to the game. Instead we've got the malaise of thinking that a manager (regardless of who the manager is) has signed another player who isn't good enough to go straight into the first team.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I don't look at him and see an untalented player. I just don't think he's a central defender in the more physically demanding Championship, which doesn't mean he has nothing to add.
Yep he's ace. Apart from in your own words, not being able to do the job he is a) paid for and b) we need.

Super.

I'd rather have Shittu.

In fact a Shittu is what we need. Not a fecking nancy boy!

Coyle signed him as a CB, which he blatantly isn't capable of playing as, so given what I've seen of him (decent tackle every now and then, not bad on the ball, poor physically and aerially) I suggested a role that he might play better in than he has as CB; disrupting their midfield and breaking up play, just general hassling them. I apologise if that doesn't fall in with your personal opinion, I was led to believe forums were a place to share opinions :| Would you rather chuck him for free like Petrov? I can't see anyone wanting to sign him for a fee so short of keeping him here and not playing him I can't see anything else to do with him.
He couldn't disrupt a minutes silence with a whoopie cushion.

He isn't a midfielder. He's a shit defender, so feck him off.

There's absolutely no getting around the fact that he's shit. He's not got the bottle for midfield. Or the physical, technical attributes.

That was a long time ago in fairness.

we need someone who can dominate but also deserve their place in the team, at this level Richard Dunne is someone who would spring to mind

**disclaimer** I am not saying that we should sign Dunne, or that he would come to us but am using him as an example as the sort of person who will put their body on the line and be a first team regular
Nixon has just tweeted that a source has suggested we're in for Richard Dunne.

Someone said I was Nixon during one of the transfer threads, not sure which one. It is not true though.

He's one of the top earners, yet IMO far from one of the top players. He was shit on Saturday. 1 decent moment in the whole match with the run and the cross.

I've no idea what wages he's on. If they're top end then fair enough. He's one whose always got in by being less shit than his competition. I'd quite like having somebody who you can chuck in across the back line, but not for big wages. We do have to still have someone to pick though!

Ricketts was a megson 'meh' signing, he gets stuck in but is he actually that good?

I'd have thought Ricketts was the least of our issues.

Ricketts AKA reducing the wagebill. Can't have Prem wage people on our bench. Project Dougie is about a squad of young, hungry players. I'd trust the new management team and sell.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Have we invented this plan to sell him ? Are we now so determined to build a team befitting our current league position ? He may be on 'Premiership' wages, but I doubt he's anything like the upper end of that.

I also think we need to sort a few other matters out before worrying about him. Plus, if he's in contract and so vastly overpaid and so incredibly shite who's going to spend money on him ?

Unless getting rid of Ricketts allows us to get someone in better and as versatile, or 2 better players we may as well hang on to him. Alonso must be due an injury which then leaves us with Mears and seemingly injury prone Riley. We need to get shot of Ream and Knight and get a couple of competent CBs in. Hopefully Wheater will make a successful comeback. I'd like to see a proper left back as well. Hopefully this Craig David fella can show the useless lot up front how to score.

Ricketts has been generally poor this season. It'd not surprise me if we wanted to sell him.

EDIT: I quite like Sam, but I suspect this season he's short of giving us owt close to value for money!

I'm not against getting rid of him, but we are running out of alternatives in defence. He's the only one that can do a job anywhere in the back line. I think we need multiple bodies drafting in there before getting shut. No guarantees on Mills and Wheater returning successfully. Mills hasn't been good so far and Wheater should be good enough at this level.

Work with a guy who helps out in the ticket office on match days. He has heard that Marseille are interested in our very own David Ngog!
