Back from the Isle of Wight, had a lovely time. Stayed in an old railway waiting room which had been converted into a beautiful cottage. http://www.whitwellstation.co.uk/website/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Heres some pics of me and the kids.

That picture of the two of them looking out to sea with their matching fleeces on, is so sweet. You must be a very proud mum GG :)

Got a week in a gourmet hotel in the Lakes at the end of this month but thats about it this year apart from a week in wales with the dog in November. I'm expecting a pay cut this year so too scared to splash out on something exotic

Pay cuts not so good news :( Lakes are supposed to be lovely though, not been since a kid but i want to go back sometime. Wales is nice too, we went to pembrokeshire a couple of summers ago. It didn't stop raining but it was great none the less!

I'm having my summer hols tomorrow - two days of heat on the outer reaches of the sarf-east. Now, which short-sleeved shirt that I've not worn for at least three years to pack?

Cyprus tremendous. Proper hot! Was expecting pleasant, mild and sunny sort of gig, but was as hot and sunny as ive known it anywhere, quality!

Paphos town not great, but the hotel n'that absolutely spot on.

October sunshine is the future.

Just stumbled over this thread again! Forgot it was here. Glad you enjoyed your hols on the IoW GG. Whitwell is a nice little place, did you eat in the White Horse? One of the better pub eateries imo. Your kids look like they enjoyed the beach. I maybe a tad biased, but the Island is certainly one of the best places to bring up young children.

Oh you're in for an absolute treat, ST. I went to Playa del Carmen in 2001 which was just before it really exploded as a resort. BEST HOLIDAY EVER. With you being over on Cozumel it's nowhere near as developed, so you get the best of both worlds as your only a short boat ride from the mainland. If you like discovering Mayan culture etc then you're in for a treat. Do go on the trips to places like Chichen Itza - it'll blow your mind. Strongly recommend snorkeling too. There's a whole new world just under the water. I always say that I'll never go back to anywhere I've been on holiday as there's so much of the world to see, but I hope to go back there one day. In two weeks I just didn't get done all the things that I wanted to do (including going over to Cozumel).
The food that's served up in the UK as being Mexican food is in actual fact an insult to the Mexicans. If you like your food you're about to go to food heaven.
What you'll also find is that despite how poor my Mexicans are, there are no beggars. There is however no shortage of Mexicans looking to carry out menial tasks for you in return for a little pocket change.
As I say, you're in for an absolute treat. Enjoy.

Yours sincerely

Envious of Bolton!
Wow! Cheers Bruce thats a really good insight, thanks for sharing
Just booked for the end of July here too! :-)

But a bit further down at Playacar.

Been wanting to go to Mehiho for a good while now, but not been able to convince the missus.

Can't wait.

The Missus wants to go to the Maldives this year as it is not far from here. Has anyone been? If so can you let me know which island you went to and thoughts on it? I've been looking around, but they're all starting to seem like they're the same; I'm sure they aren't.

Cheers.
