They drive on the right though. My guess would be photo-shoppage.
They drove on the left last time I was there.... Probably right about photoshop.
or possible it's a photo through some icefields - and is therefore a permanent feature and not the result of a recent snowfall... like this one...

I'm afraid your image did a Tango Balls but I was able to look it up. The problem with the icefield theory is that some fir trees only have the very tops showing, suggesting they had been recently buried - all the icefields I've seen don't have trees growing near them (usually above the tree line). Still, I don't know what the photo may be.

Thanks for resolving that one, Grunt. I'd forgotten Japan had than much snow (long time since their winter Olympics) so it didn't occur to me when thinking of left side driving countries.

Bit of an ordeal this morning. Took the dog out today, let him off the lead as usual so he can have a scavenge about. Normally when we go by the lake he goes mad for the ducks but they just retreat to the water safe as houses. Not today though, didnt account for it being frozen over! He was off racing across the ice back and forth chasing geese. He eventually caught up with one and they had a little wrestle which obviously caused the ice to give way, didnt want him to hurt the goose more than anything, but just instinctively jumped in after them, fully clothed, shoes hat gloves the lot, wallet keys and phone too! nightmare. Managed to hold on to a branch and got them out, so lucky the ice didnt break in the middle!

Certainly wakes you up!

wow I thought something like that was gonna happen to these kids who were cannoing on a small frozen lake round here, parent was with them but irresponsibly let them canoe, didnt stick around to see if they fell in. just shows though that ice can be very dangerous, any reason why your dog went more mental than normal ?
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

There's an old saying, General: "Look before you leap". If a dog and goose go through the ice what chance have you of staying 'afloat'?

Glad to see you got your clothes, wallet, keys and 'phone out. Did you manage to save the goose?

Larry's a natural born killer, birds and rodents are his prey. in situations like that a switch flicks in his head and he is gone, it becomes instinct and he wont obey, i dont even think he hears me. I dont usually worry about it becasue hes no chance of ever catching one. this was the first time he has so i wasnt sure how he'd react, he looked like he just wanted to have a sniff at first but the goose attacked him tbf, so the scuffle commenced. but I didnt want a savaged goose on my hands or a drowned dog, so i knew i was getting wet.

he needs to learn that its not acceptable tho, a few people have mentioned these electric shock collars, where you give them a little zap by remote control if they're misbehaving! sounds incredibly cruel to me but i wish id had one the other day!

I'm not sure how deep this lake was, General, or the exact circumstances but it sounds like you were as daft as your dog. In freezing water, hypothermia can kill you very quickly. I think perhaps you should both have electric shock collars.
