As for your comment of "players who want to be here", we could pluck any fvcker out of the football league and they'd love to be here. That shouldn't be the key parameter for a signing.
Personally I think you're clutching at straws as you've decided you don't like him for whatever reason.

I think he's talked sense and carried through with what he's discussed, within the parameters of a manager and what he is able to reveal to the media.
I actually don't mind him!! I can see what he's trying to achieve... He just doesn't convince me yet, that he can manage the neccessary changes
He doesn't convince me either. Not convinced he can't yet either so I keep an open mind.

I don't think I'm a staunch defender of him.

I like what he plans. I like his pragmatism.

Carrying it through is incredibly hard. Most would fail with our situation and resources. Sam was a one off.

I hope Dougie can do well, but heck more chance he won't than he will.
It'd be nice to see some consistent signs at least. Look at Dyche at Burnley. Leaky defence and he comes in and changes it immediately. Their resources are more scarce than ours. And I'm not sure what the difference in "situation" is either, apart from we have much better individual players

Sme managers have that honey moon effect and others dont. Some have it then it fades to nowt.

And there is a whole lot more to situations than the player quality. Who knows what was happening behind the scenes. Perhaps Burnley were far more settled.

Only time will tell.

Again, you're trying to find any reason. Any whatsoever, To blame the old manager and the players.

No need to find a reason. We are here because the previous manager was an incompetent joke.

We let him drag the ship down way too far.

Much easier to keep it afloat than dredge it up and make it watertight again.

When Dougie has has time to implement his own vision and stamp it on the club I will re-assess.

But for now he gets the benefit of the doubt from me.

That's not a bad thing IMO.

the kind of open mind that has yet found any occasion at all to say anything at all critical about anything Dougie has done yet, or any of the performances or any of the results...

on the one hand it is a pleasant change to hear your constant positivity - but it comes across every bit as one-eyed as your previous constant negativity...

I reckon dougie has made a reasonable, but not spectacular start - he has done some good stuff - and he has made some mistakes... i don't despair about the future and I am not yet wildly excited by it...

it's a grey picture rather than a black or white one...

Agreed with your assessment in terms of colour.

But still early days yet IMO.

I don't think that's as black and white as it might appear.

I agree with this. I'm not saying "Dougie out" or anything like that, but I don't think he'll give us the instant turnaround we were hoping for, or possibly should have expected. I think a more experienced manager would have got far more points than Freedman has so far. Had we made a better choice, I think we'd have been around the play off spots right now.

I'm willing to give Freedman time but I'm not happy to be plodding along like we are. I need more reason to be optimistic.

Of all the possibilities when a new manager comes in, this is the worst. The best is that you get a manager who turns the club around, obviously. However, if a manager does a terrible job and is blatantly the wrong choice, like Berg at Blackburn, that's not too bad because they can be quickly replaced and the season can be salvaged. However, a manager who doesn't improve or worsen the team right away can be far more damaging in the long run. You sometimes stick with them for far too long and 6 months down the line, you're thinking "he should have been sacked a long time ago".

Reading between the lines… [making stuff up that hasn’t been said]
implement his own vision and stamp it on the club - [signing Craig Davies, wow!]

Edit: I really need to add this  because when I read it back it was much more cynical than I meant!
That's not a leopard!

...or even a not so experienced manager. Sean Dyche has overseen an upturn in form at Burnley, thanks mainly to sorting the defence out, over exactly the same number of games that Freedman has been blundering around with us.

'Not doing so well'?! He's taken 25 points from 15 games with a struggling team! Dougie's managed 6 points fewer from the same number of games. Ipswich are currently 7 places above us in the current from table. But let's not mention it in case it shows that it is possible to work with someone else's players...

My point being they was winning a fair few games and you sang his name and now they have not won in 4 and you suddenly moved on to Dyche.

It's no coincidence that all 3 teams relegated last season from the Prem are struggling.. All have tried new managers as well. This shows that the mentality of players obviously makes a difference in this league and it's not all about having having "premiership" players. I honestly do not think any manager we got was going to have a big or instant impact on the team.

Point being that turning around a club like Blackburn, Wolves and us is a very different task to turning around teams who have lived there life down in the Championship for a few years. They might have lesser players but they have the right mentality and experience to win games in this league rather than the can't be arsed or I'm to good for this league type players.

Because Dyche is a relatively inexperienced manager and i was making the point that it's not just experienced managers who are currently putting Freedman to shame. Try reading the thread properly.

Just a question...

I have my doubts but he has time as far as I'm concerned. Just wondering whether we do have any douggie outers I guess..BL3 seems the obvious one.
