Why does the article have to be humoursome? It's attempting to convey an opinion as to his abilities as a BBC sports presenter.Prufrock wrote:That is about as humourless an article as I've read for a long while.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... enter.html
Schillings' involvement raises a smile.
Personally I loathe his style of faux laddishness (he says, not wishing to appear too humourless).

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
the point of a presenter though is to anchor. He shouldn't be offering opinion, either questioning or steering a convo/debate. The current wave of faux-banter bullshit is irritating as feck

Who says that's the point? Yon mon analysing a transcript of said banter and trying to be all hilariously condescending because, well, he didn't ask any bloody questions! It's Match of the Day 2, not a presidential debate. I'd rather listen to Murray, or Chiles for that matter (despite not liking either of them, in anything else, ever) because they both come across as fans. It's supposed to be 'chat down the pub' which is staged, and often painfully forced, but I'd still rather listen to that than the tactical analysis of Alan Shearer. 'Oh aye, the centre-half done really good there. Coz if he hadn't headed that the striker would surely have scored, so that's good defending'. Course I'd rather listen to somebody, who actually knew what they were on about, do the tactics but that's the point of MOTD1. So ner.

If people want a chat down the pub they'll go for a chat down the feckin pub. Not watch people who barely know football have teh lolz with ex-players who also barely know football
It's a terrible programme in its current form anyway. We may as well be arguing about the shade of a particular shit.
Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
Well if you can start deciding what the point of things are why can't I? Oh, coz there isn't one #edgynihilism.
But yeah, either way it's a bit wank. Less wank than I thought it was going to be when he was announced though, so well done, Colin.

Can I play the 'I'm a journo' card yet? #iknowthisshitman
Pru, instead of watching MOTD2 on Sunday shall we just go to the pub instead, watch it on mute and have 'banter'?

The main Montreal reservoir is on a hill above my University. Last night while I was unfortunately on campus a 48 inch pipe broke and emptied the contents down the hill.. We had major rivers on the streets beside the campus (and spectacular waterfalls on campus). We were trapped for nearly two hours before they stopped the water. Some people were swept away. I've never scene anything quite like it though we have had problems over the years with that reservoir.

There is a video of the students who lost their footing http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/flood-in-m ... -1.1133295" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; along with other shots. What a mess. I discovered my boots were not waterproof.

Even waterproof boots aren't designed to wade through a river Monty!Montreal Wanderer wrote:There is a video of the students who lost their footing http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/flood-in-m ... -1.1133295" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; along with other shots. McGill's insurers will not be impressed. Or maybe the water company's?

Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
Got a kind of job interview tomorrow. Not sure what to think. Didn't actually apply for anything but been asked to go in for 'a chat'. To be honest it would be good career wise for me if they offered me something and a few years back i'd have been well keen, but actually am quite content at the moment doing what I do after the stressful situation that was my last job. Ho hum. Guess its worth going to see what's what.
