Re: Tonight's Football
Well, I've watched it several times. The ballboy was lying on the ball keeping it covered and Hazard tried to get it with his hands first and then tried to kick it from under him...once. He was even careful to step over the "little lad" ( a seventeen year old who drives his own car and boasted publicly he was back to "waste time") The "kick" wouldn't have popped a balloon.BWFC_Insane wrote:I've just watched the incident again. What makes this worse is that the ball boy wasn't actually doing anything wrong. He let the ball roll past him and bounce off the hoardings, then picks it up. As he's picking it up Hazard comes along and pushes him over.
A kick up the arse would have been more appropriate in my view.

Re: Tonight's Football
Can you imagine the "twitter" boasting if Hazard had just stood back? Unless somebody gets a grip of this fella he has all the makings of a right smug little asshole. Hope his dad does, but somehow, I doubt it.

Near the end where they show the whole incident. He's just about to pick the ball up when Hazard barges into him and knocks him over.
So actually the ball boy did nowt wrong. Hazard wasted more time pushing him over trying to steal the ball, then kicking him.

Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.
Re: Tonight's Football
I'd hardly call that a barge. The ball boy dives onto the ball when he sees Hazard coming. He knows exactly what he's doing and that's why he makes such a meal of it.BWFC_Insane wrote:Watch this.TANGODANCER wrote:Well, I've watched it several times. Re: Tonight's Football
no he doesn't... ball boy dawdles about - hazard goes to get the ball himself - ballboy sees Hazard - ballboy deliberately drops down onto the ball and holds onto it.BWFC_Insane wrote:Watch this.TANGODANCER wrote:Well, I've watched it several times. if it was hazard barging the boy - why does the boy drop straight down - and (more interestingly) - why does the boy grab the ball?? if he'd been simply barged over - he would simply have gone sprawling. but - no - he drops vertically down onto the ball - he doesn't even slip - he deliberately drops onto the ball to waste time.
you're seeing what (for some reason best known to yourself) you want to see..
also - having watched that a few times - do you still think that deserves the description "disgraceful violent assault" - on some kind of par with domestic violence??

Re: Tonight's Football
The "whole incident" should be dismissed for the utter nonesense it is. An incident that wouldn't have raised an eyebrow on Moss Bank becomes national news in the media, youtube and twitterbox? Please get real.BWFC_Insane wrote:Watch this.TANGODANCER wrote:Well, I've watched it several times. Re: Tonight's Football
Hazard gives him a dig, which he deserved. Old days he would have gotten quite a public clip round the ear and would have deserved that too.
For my money he clearly falls straight down onto the ball and shields it from Hazard, then milks the dig he received.
He's an arse and with any luck he'll get a few more digs from other sources.
It's more sadly indicative of the modern game that such shameless timewasting is obviously encouraged among the ball-crew.

Re: Tonight's Football
My favourite was at Everton a few years ago where they would go 1-0 up and a bloke would go round the pitch with a bin bag and collect all the 'multi' balls from the ballboys.
This under everyone's favourite manager David Moyes.
Interestingly at Anfield they don't bother with them then moan at goalkeepers who tend to amble over for the ball when it's near the corner flag.

Loads of fuss about nowt.
BWFCI - I dont always agree with you but you do tend to present a good argument. You've got this one so so wrong though.

Re: Tonight's Football
The lad clearly grabbed the ball on the way down and there is a clear camera angle which shows the ball pop out as Hazard put his foot in which proves he kicked the ball and not the lad.
The lad even put on Twitter before the game that he would be trying to timewaste at the game and is the son of someone high up at the club and is in line to inherit a 42 million pound fortune

Re: Tonight's Football
Having seen it again, I agree with the general consensus that the ball boy was being a dick and Hazard was going for the ball. He's still an absolute fcking idiot for getting involved though, and, IMO, deserved to be sent off. Any talk of involving the police is fecking stupid, and - to their credit given they're normally a bunch of whinging fannies - Swansea have also said any talk of assault is ridiculous. He's still a cretin though.

Police involved... don't think so !
This only happened on Wednesday night... the lad needs to wait 30 maybe 40 years and then make a complaint.

Well I agree with BWFC_i. If that were a 7 year old kid not a 17 year old the world would be up in arms. But there's no difference, both are minors. The facts are that a grown man has attacked a child after only mild provocation.
Happily for once, everyone involved has used a bit of common sense and treated it in the manner it deserves but to be honest Hazard is lucky to be not facing charges for this.
