Nostalgia! Your top three moments being a Wanderer
what's are your favourite moments following t'wanderers? Just the three, please.
Me
1) Being behind the goal for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... ETM#t=322s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2) The quarter final 11 years' prior to that against Charlton. Gudjohnsen scores one of the great Reebok goals (really, it's SO underrated) and Jaaskelainen produces miracle save after another
3) Boro at home to secure top flight status.
The bobic hattrick v ipswich and the game when Joe Cole cried were also in the running, but alas, didn't make it.
Yourself?

1. Beating Preston 3-0 in the play offs. Sat with a fully grown Preston fan in a bar in Cyprus whilst he cried his eyes out.
2. Beating Man U that season 1-2 away from home.....the day of my auntie's wedding, the whole wedding party going crazy at the reception.
3. Watching Okocha in a white shirt.

Can’t argue with the Brum away one for sheer excitement and joy. Unadulterated joy. Hugging complete strangers and being misty eyed about the hellhole we where going to a month later...
The other one which sticks out has to be the Ricky goal at Cardiff v Preston, to send us up. The start of it all.
One which won’t get mentioned much is the feeling when KD's goal went in for 1-2 away at Stoke. We believed. We bloody partied for the next 20 minutes.
It’s the hope which kills you...

Tough call with loads already above which have made me smile;
How about:
Away @ Sheffield United in the 70's in the middle of a winter, frozen pitch & where we scored 3 (I think - it is a long time ago!)
Away @ Highbury in the cup (replay?) - in 94
Away of course @ Bayern Munich

Had problems opening the car door as the lock had frozen. We tried allsorts until, final chance, 4 of us pissed on the lock. Thankfully it opened, or we'd have been staying over as no-one was going to blow on it again after that.
My 3 .... have to agree with the Readfing & Preston finals. Probably Preston at a push
Beating Wolves in the play-off semis .... with Super John giving David Kelly a "wee push"
Beating the Mancs 1978/9, home & away, but at home when Frank scored 2. Lovely jubbly.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

1. Lokomotiv Plovdiv, not exactly a glamour tie but being at our first competetive european game was great
2. The Stoke semi final (....before the game, after sits in the worst moments ever), because it was brilliant to see our club walk out at wembley
3. Okocha doing something amazing

1. Lokomotiv Plovdiv. 1st European Night and my 1st home win.
2. Bobic's Hat Trick v. Ipswich. That was relief of safety and revenge all at once.
3. Home V Tottenham to start the season with Campo's daisycutter. Was just a great example of the good years. Starting a season winning against Tottenham.

1.for personal reasons stuffing Reading at MadjskiGary the Enfield wrote:Reading Play off final.

2. same season drawing at Chelsea and seing all of them getting angry especially after last min equaliser (remember SKD doing Terry 5 mins in and therefore Terry being stretchered off)
3. Guimaraes. I was the only sober Bolton fan there and remember bloke behind me falling over on me when we scored due to

you lot cannot be happy that I picked two Megson games
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

IIRC It was Xmas period and we won 5-2. I was living in Sheffield at the time. Never been so cold at a matchbobo the clown wrote:That may even have been 4 we scored. Re: Nostalgia! Your top three moments being a Wanderer
Seriously, I've given this some thought...
3... The defeat of Liverpool in the FA Cup on January 13 1993 - the game that announced our return to a club that competed with the best, and gave us the push to promotion... But, more importantly, for this question, the game that made my daughter want to go to the 'next match' (having watched, aged 12, the highlights) and sealed the relationship between her and her granddad (and me)... Well, you know... We were together at the away game against Palace last Sat... Nice...
2... A defeat at Marseilles - 2-1 - in Feb 2006... Now I have seen my club play in a genuine European competition... I'm hurt at the defeat... I am proud of the achievement... And I'm there...
1... 21 April 1958... a Wednesday night... my dad takes me to my first game... I am 9 years old... I have a scarf freshly knitted by my grandma... we lose 4-0 to PNE... It doesn't matter... A certain pattern to my life has been established... And there's nothing within me that would change that...

1. FA Cup Final 1958 (but had to watch on TV as my Mam said that I was to young to go!!! and I was 13
)
2. Worthington wonder goal;
3. Last game at Burnden, so sad at the time!!
Close was coming from 2-0 down to beat Reading 4-2 in play off final.

Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

Re: Nostalgia! Your top three moments being a Wanderer
In no particular order...
1990ish when we beat Bury in the cup at home. Mainly because I somehow ended up in the away end with my then Bury supporting girlfriend and here family. Philliskirk scored, I went mental, remembered where I was and realised half the away end were doing the same
Those cup games from the White Hot Years. Hard to pick just one, but Liverpool away was great. The Arsenal away one was good seeing as I was living in London at the time and I had lots of fun mocking work colleagues
Wanderers v Charlton. End of an era at Burnden. 4-1, with Supa getting the final goal just capped of a great emotional night.
Lots of other great moments as well, but these 3 stand out for me.

Re: Nostalgia! Your top three moments being a Wanderer
1. Being in the Burnden when Franky Worthy scored the wonder goal (still the best goal I have ever seen live)
2. Beating Wolves in the playoffs when we lost 2-1 away and then that night at Burnden the crowd booed very loudly when they had the ball and got behind the lads 100% when we had the ball we came back and won the game what a night. I really thought it was the start of something big after that night!!
3. Playoff vrs Reading what a game, 2-0 down then the penalty we all thought that is it another season of failure Branagan saves the Bolton end come alive as though we had won!! The just when you think it cannot get any more surreal DeFretis scores 2 he looked like a world beater whereas previously he had looked like a complete donkey. Again thought it was the start of something big.
1st game as a ballboy came close as the Carlisle player screaming at me to give him the ball as I held on to it we were 2-1 up at the time and I thought I would waste a bit of time, he didn't kick me though!! How times have changed!!

Genshaw seems closest: We won 5-1 at Bramall on Sat 14 Jan 1978.Harry Genshaw wrote:^ It was 5-1
Confusion may arise because we'd won 3-2 on our previous visit (Tue 28 Dec 1976).

Reading Play-off final: What can you say about this, everything good about Wanderers
Torquay at Wembley - You should never wish to see your Dad fall over anything but he felll over the seats at Wembley to show me Wanderers raising the Leyland Daf Trophy and still has the scar on his shin. Oh and Deano's goal
Bolton 3 - 1 Arsenal, only because it was The Elk's first Premier League goal for us and it was a barnstormer. Plus what a pass from Campo for his 2nd
