We are definitely building for next season. Signing players around the 20/21 year old mark, who may be near first team football stage and will develop.

Signing Eaves on a deal and Mark Davies.

In my opinion we are going to be shedding the high earners and re-building with these sorts of lads. Players who want to do well here, hopefully and are young enough to improve but old enough to be physically ready or near-ready.

Can't back it up with facts or reasons or anything tangible, but I just have a good feeling that Dougie knows what he's doing and that we will improve steadily over the next few years.

I signed him for Bolton during the winter transfer window in my first season on FIFA 13. For that reason alone I'd love us to sign him.

In case anyone is curious we won the league with 134 points :pissed:

I'd like us to sign him just for his name, Albert A-dome-ah. Then we can blame it all on him. :whack:

Oooof. That's bad news.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

3 years for a 31 year old seems a bit long, he was on big wages at Villa

3 years is ridiculous.

Diouf won't be on low wages one would suspect so they obviously don't mind paying decent wages.

Spam offered him until the end of the season with possible extension.

Fair point

Edit.. He's on 20k a week

Warnock would probably take similar for a 3 year deal.

Indeed, and outside our scope.

That said, last summer we did give Keith Andrews a three-year contract (he turned 32 in September), plus two-year contracts for Zat Knight (who'd turned 32 in May) and Sam Ricketts (we then turned 31 in October) and a one-year contract for Kevin Davies (who'd turned 35 in March). But I think those days are over, and although I think we need a bit of experience around the place, I wouldn't want to throw money at Stephen Warnock.

£20,000 per week for someone that couldn't get a game in the Premier League's worst defence!

There has to be some other reason for this (like an appearance based bonus, or pay rise) as
a). he patently would improve that lot
b). It's now 2 managers whove binned him out

Unless he's been Learnering a thing or two from the owner's wife.

Always a story to be told for sure, I'm just pleased he's not signing for us.

Can't see him as the future.

Just out of interest we have a good, young team tied down to long contracts. Add Alonso and some Experience in Holden who is currently 27 and the future looks reasonable in terms of talent.

14 Kevin Davies
15 Craig Dawson (loan)
17 Benik Afobe (loan)
20 Jay Spearing (loan)
22 Stuart Holden
26 Rob Lainton
33 Adam Blakeman
34 Jay Lynch
37 Jack Sampson
38 Sanmi Odelusi
39 Alex McQuade
41 Chris Lester

Out of Contract 2014:

31 David Wheater
18 Sam Ricketts
12 Zat Knight
9 David Ngog
7 Chris Eagles
2 Tyrone Mears

Out of Contract in 2015 and beyond:

1 Adam Bogdan
4 Matt Mills
5 Tim Ream
8 Keith Andrews
11 Gregg Wylde
16 Mark Davies
19 Marvin Sordell
21 Darren Pratley
23 Joe Riley

I was given the impression that Dougie was some kind of knowledgeable wunderkind when it came to scouting out young upcoming talent. And given how 'everybody' is now in gestalt agreement that the whole Coylite squad was ubershite I think I'm on safe territory in saying: what a very disappointing January. There are a couple of days to make it better.
That's not a leopard!

It's reasonable to assume that players of that age will get better. The question is will they improve enough to reach the required standard to get into the first team.

No it isn't. There are no guarantees.

Wouldn't it be easier to sign players who are ready to go into the first team, since Dougie appears to have given up with the ones he inherited?

I just think that whatever happens that you will try a cast a cloud of sh*te over it.

Btw if you have got people sticking up for the insane one that you truly are a bell end of magnificent proportions.
