I doubt we'd have been 13 points adrift of the play-offs.
'tis a world of opinions - but I don't think it's that difficult to imagine we'd have been 13 OR MORE pts off the play-offs had Coyle stayed on - but - waste of time argument (except you keep making it) - because we will never know....
more interesting (surely) is the question of what we do now....
what do you reckon? Dougie's here - he's not going anytime soon - Owen isn't coming back - it's very close to the close of the transfer window - money is tight...
what do you reckon? should we be offloading anyone if we can? if so - who?
should we be trying to get anyone in? if so - what position/what type of player/who?
any ideas?
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
That's just plain mischievous!

Why bother asking then?thebish wrote:'tis a world of opinions - but I don't think it's that difficult to imagine we'd have been 13 OR MORE pts off the play-offs had Coyle stayed on - but - waste of time argument (except you keep making it) - because we will never know...

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Coyle fecked this club up big time. A statement noone can disagree with if of sane mind.
Not sure on an approach to signing pure youth. We need some strong wise heads to guide IMO. people like ricketts, andrews need to pull fingers out. People like knight and davies (k) just needscrapping. Wheater and holden being fit and committed being massive plus points...

We were three points clear of relegation. We're now eight points clear. Dougie is better!BL3 wrote:We were four points off the play-offs at the end of September. Six points off an automatic promotion spot. That was in the actual universe.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Why must BL3 go through this petty little dance of his in every thread. We get that you think Coyle was Jesus incarnate but the fact of the matter is that he isn't here any more. He got us relegated, you should try supporting your team and the manager once in a whole rather moaning about Mick McCarthy/Sean Dyche etc not being charge of the club?
And please for the love of all that is rational will you answer the question on what you think Bolton should do if you think that Dougie is not good enough to rectify the situation? Who would you sign?

Pfffft.
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Sure but we were only 3 points off the top of the table after the first week and that certainly says something.Prufrock wrote:We were three points clear of relegation. We're now eight points clear. Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
because you seemed so sure - I was interested in what it was that made you believe that. It seems it was no less guesswork and pure personal pig-headed bias than anyone else's blinkered view....BL3 wrote:Why bother asking then?thebish wrote:'tis a world of opinions - but I don't think it's that difficult to imagine we'd have been 13 OR MORE pts off the play-offs had Coyle stayed on - but - waste of time argument (except you keep making it) - because we will never know...
i, for one, have not made my mind up about Dougie yet - I am interested in the opinion of anyone who has - but it'd take more than loudly repeated one-liners and wind-up-posts to recruit me to your cause...
i note with interest your total lack of response to any question about what you think should happen now...

I'm not trying to recruit you or anyone else to 'my cause'. I couldn't care less whether you agree or you don't. However i'll bear in mind your aversion to 'loudly repeated one-liners' next time you start banging on about whether the players were previously thought good enough or not, for the umpteenth fúcking time.thebish wrote:it'd take more than loudly repeated one-liners and wind-up-posts to recruit me to your cause...
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Of course we were closer to the top earlier in the season, less games had been played and so less points had been played for. Extrapolate the gap at that stage of the season to the number of games that have now been played if you want a better comparison.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
according to Serbian medias, Medo Camara sets to sign for Bolton, tommorrow is the day
I'll write some words about him later. Defensive midfielder fromm Sierra Leone, best Partizan's midfielder in years. His contract runs out in June.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Which is an improvement on the 21st we'd have been placed in, had we carried on accumulating points at the rate we were under Coyle when he left. So an improvement of 5 places.BL3 wrote:...and when there were still 36 of the 46 games to play... that's how time works, y'see!thebish wrote:BL3 wrote:You mean he's still in charge? I thought he left in October.thebish wrote:BL3 wrote:
Nothing to do with the manager then?
oh yes - you're right - quite a bit to do with the manager - the one that bought them and managed us into the Championship... now - what was his name... errr... did it start with a C? it's on the tip of my tongue...
yep - that would be the October AFTER he relegated us to the Championship... that's how time works, y'see!
We were 16th when the previous manager left and 18 games later... we're still 16th.
I mean, we'd have been below Ipswich.

I'm pretty sure that Kamara lad was linked with Spurs not so long ago.
EDIT: Apparently Chelsea and Liverpool wanted him too.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
I would say, a very good signing, if it's true.
Medo is a top class fighter, aggressive, with excellent anticipation. Very good at marking, smart moving on the pitch, his off the ball movement is great. Also, physically great, you won't see him walking on the pitch tired.
On the other hand, Partizan refused to sell him earlier, they needed him, as he's their best DM in ages. He also refused to sign a new contract (clever lad) so they moved him to Reserves and then brought him back later. Hasn't played lot this season, so he needs games!!!
His weaknesses, well... he looks slim, but believe me, strong enough. Technical abilities are very limited. Don't expect nice passes and shots from him. Decent long shots still, he can power them. Short, so will have some problems with high balls sometimes. Uninterested in some occasions, but I believe it's just a result of living here and playing for such an unprofessional club and under enormous pressure.
Maybe to comparе him with Muamba, only maybe.
