Re: Technology Thread.
I now have to go and plug it into the PC upstairs to restore my ipod, lets see if that one offers me this fecking update, too!
May the bridges I burn light your way

I think this is going to happen more often the more sophisticated and complicated they become.Bruce Rioja wrote:I'm with Bobo now - cunting, bastard Apple.
Plugged my phone into my lappy simply to charge it up really. Expecting the usual 'sync', 'import pics' and whatnot, no, this time I get some pap about needing to update the software on my phone. So I agree to it all yet 15 minutes later get some message about an unknown error having occurred and the update having not worked. Worse still, my phone had actually packed up!!!!1111ONE
So, I brought the whole lot home, plugged them together, and was then informed that my phone had gone into some recovery mode and I've now had to restore/reset it to factory settings.
Bunch of arse.
4uck you, Apple.
PS. Whatever happened to Nokias?

but Apple products are NOT complicated - they are intuitive - they "just work"...malcd1 wrote:

Bought an ipod nano this week. Amazing, it's the size of a credit card and barely any thicker. Touch screen 16GB. All that tech in something so small.
Plugged it into the PC one click of a button and a few minutes later all my music was on it, properly organised and sorted with new intelligent playlists created.
Unbelievable technology really.
Apple truly are leading the way with this tech.

No. I had an iPhone but that is a work one. I did have my music on it, but began to need more room to store work stuff on, so had to remove my personal music.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Bought an ipod nano this week. 16gig in 2013 is a laugh though. And that's not a dig at apple, none of the modern tech comes with enough storage.
When iPods launched their selling point was that you could carry all your music around with you in your pocket yet 10 years on the storage hasn't increased relatively speaking.
With 16gig I can only just about cram on my Scissor Sisters, Justin Bieber and Gloria Gaynor collections. What about Elton John and Steps and the Village People?

You can buy a 160GB iPod I guess.CrazyHorse wrote:16gig in 2013 is a laugh though. And that's not a dig at apple, none of the modern tech comes with enough storage.

I confess I was fishing with my initial post.
I've never been a big fan of apple music players. I've usually managed to somehow lose all my music through iTunes.
But my old sony player finally broke and figured I could give iTunes another go.
It's easy I guess, until sommat goes wrong!

Re: Technology Thread.
The thing is, they made them with much more storage, then everything had to be micro and nano. The first few generations of iPods were perfectly small enough for what they are needed for. You could 80gb and 160gb? Now you pay the same amount for 16gb. Yet you can buy tiny 64gb micro sd cards with fast read/write speeds for not that much. It cannot be beyond the wit of Apple and others to incorporate similar technology into the nano products to give respectable storage. Personally I'd rather something a bit bigger and less nano with proper storage.CrazyHorse wrote:16gig in 2013 is a laugh though. Not really. You constantly wank over Apple, so don't try and deny it nowBWFC_Insane wrote:And finally even after my admission I've reeled one in!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Copy and past that from an advert?BWFC_Insane wrote:Bought an ipod nano this week. I am probably out of step with the rest of the world - but I just have no interest in taking all my music anywhere with me on one device...
I accept it is possible - I just don't buy into the need to do it!

Not at all. I couldn't care less about Apple, any further than if they make products I want, that I like I'll buy them the same as any brand. The only people that genuinely seem to care are those that try and tell everyone not to buy Apple stuff.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Not really. It's really bizarre.
Anyhow, I'm off to stand outside Curry's and boo anyone walking out with a Sony TV.
