The boos weren't a take on the players coming off, or coming on, but rather for the player who should have come off, but didn't.

Right. Genius.
To clarify - I wasn't one of those booing. I contented myself with a dis-satisfied head shake and arms-spread-WTF gesture. I don't condone the booing either, but I understood it.

For the record, I imagine that, to the rest of the country, our fans must look like wankers on an even bigger scale than your average Scummer. From their point of view, yesterday, we booed the subs that won us the game. At the end of last season and the start of this, we booed the man who took us to an FA cup semi. Before that, we booed and hounded out the man who kept us up and was keeping us steady in the league.

To the rest of the country, we must seem like the biggest bunch of ignorant, ungrateful, arrogant tossers around.

Megsongate is to blame for all this. Bolton fans got the idea that if they didnt like sommat they could boo and his and throw their toys out the pram and get their own way.

Fact is Megson went not because the fans were moaning but because we were in danger of relegation.

Now a fairly innocuous sub is met with boos, arm waving and aggression.

The Megson affair was the slippery slope to this.

And that includes all the boos when Coyle was manager. Come on here moan, go down the pub and moan. Feck if we are useless and get beat hopelessly boo at the end of the game. But don't destabilise the club even more by throwing abuse at everyone on and off the pitch during the actual game.

It is never, ever ever going to help.

It's a football game nobody expects fans to be 100 percent positive or for the odd moan at players to not happen. It's just the fact that lots of fans in the ground are waiting for the slightest opportunity to do it.

I remember 2 years ago, just before he came good, a bloke abusing Elmander at Rochdale in a pre season friendly. Proper abuse. Elmander just turned and shrugged at him. It's a shame he couldn't have come over and battered the sad excuse for a fan senseless. Cos these folk wouldn't say it to their faces on the street. They'd be too scared.

But they think they have a right to moan. Which they do. But that doesn't extend to the lengths they go to.

Nor does it mean they aren't doing massive and very tangible harm to the club. Mind they probably don't care as if we were doing well they'd be throwing paper fecking planes on the pitch or sommat!

The fans were booing because the first 60 minutes was absolutely hopeless. We showed no glimpses of anything positive. Tactically outclassed, defensively unorganized, Sordell was fed scraps, there was no fluidity and no structure. It was a pathetic showing, worthy of a team which, at one point, was outside of the relegation zone only because of goal difference.

I'm glad Freedman changed it around but if people are going to give him praise for that, he also deserves criticism for the first 60 minutes. A decent side would have put four or five past us. We were atrocious, and I absolutely understand the frustration in the ground.

Good points BWFCI but it's been going on long before Megson.

I can well recall cringing at Burnden and at Maine Road as our fans sang "Roy McFarland, you're a w*nker"

I dont think we're any worse than fans anywhere else to be honest in terms of getting on our teams back. Where we do seem to be lacking at the moment and have done for a while, is giving them backing when they're struggling

Totally. I think we've got used to watching rubbish under Coyle, now we can't see it's slowly improving. If the noisy ones are unhappy we're not knocking them in for fun we don't start any chants. Maybe some people try but then no-one joins in because they're all grumbling/waiting to shout at Eagles.

Moaning is very different to "proper abuse". The notion that "paying your hard-earned" entitles you to abuse another human being is repugnant.

I thoroughly agree.

And as regards Eagles, I'll damn well have a go at someone if they shirk every single bloody challenge when we're down in the mire.

Thought Freedman came across as a bit of a dick on his 3 second indepth interview on FLS.

He seemed to stop short of an 'F-you' to the fans who booed the subs but I think he got very lucky on Saturday.

As for the booing I think the fans were booing the players that were left 'on' the pitch rather than the ones that came off. The Riddler wasn't playing too bad, Sordell was huffing and puffing a bit but there were plenty of other candidates that could have been hooked off. Eagles especially who, to me just didn't seem to want the ball. I don't know if he's 'tired' or fed up or just not interested but the relief from the crowd when he finally did leave the pitch was palpable.

It annoys me because, on his day he is a great player, we've seen him be a real threat but since Coyle left he's gone right down the nick.

Good to see SCD making some runs across the face of goal and taking a chance by getting into space and that eventually lead to his goal.

Overall though? The win may paper over a few cracks for now but on the plus side a nice shot of me and my dad on the telly and a good shot of a Burnley fan sticking the V's up at the ESL after their goal.

Two guys in front of me though? We had a little 'chat' about there constant slagging of young Tyrone. Their 'argument' boiled down to 'f-off, we go home and away every week!' Fair enough, they've seen more of him than I have but he certainly wasn't the worst player on the day.

At full time I thought they'd cool down but they carried it on into the Platinum Suite with one calling everyone on his table 'Effing arseholes' and storming out.

According to our hosts this is a regular event.

Anyway, COYWM.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

I wish he'd not stopped short.

Someone needs to fecking tell tham.

And he was far far far too nice.

End of the day Eagles wasn't playing well, but a) De Ridder has barely played since March and b) It wasn't like De Ridder was significantly better than Eagles.

In reality De Ridder's performance splits opinion. Which probably means he were ok, but not exactly brilliant.

Eagles gets stick for "not putting his foot in" but he does work hard. I mean he's a powder puff soft as shite fairy, but lets face it, every Owen Coyle signing practically fits that bill with the possible exceptions of Holden and Wheater.

But it was hardly that baffling or strange a decision. We needed a change, De Ridder had created nowt, Sordell had created nowt, LCY had created nowt and Eagles had created nowt.

2 of them were coming off.

It's hardly fecking crime of the century. And the way some people reacted you'd think he'd just subbed Pele for Jamie Pollock or sommat......

He could have used to it brag but he didnt, just said he was there to make decisions, wont always be popular, but this time they worked.

I’m not going to shy away from decision making. Sometimes I’ll get it wrong, but I’ll always do it for the best of the football club.”

Freedman said after the game that he had no choice but to withdraw Belgian winger De Ridder just under an hour into his full debut for the club.

The on-loan Southampton winger drew praise for his industrious performance on the right wing but the Whites boss said his lack of match action meant he would not have lasted the course.

“I had to take him off, he hadn’t played any football,” Freedman said. “Anyone who has shouted to the back of my head to keep him on, I wanted to keep him on, but he’s not played enough games.

I know on 60 minutes he’ll tire. And the medical people tell me, if I keep him on longer, then we’ll have a hamstring or a tear.
Aye fook those medical people. Listen to the "experts" behind you instead Dougie.......

We get 'a little fractious' when the team's not performing.

It's been a little fractious since Sammy Lee got the gig, to be honest, with just St. Owen's honeymoon period as light relief.

This season it's a little fractious because we believed we had the squad to bounce back. Cptn.Chaos fckd that up & we now have a new guy with better ideas but getting results almost as poor as his predecessor.

I blame Bill Ridding.
