Martin Petrov has sealed his transfer from Bolton Wanderers to La Liga side Espanyol.

Earlier today Bolton manager Dougie Freedman revealed that the 33-year-old had held a series of discussions with the Barcelona-based club over a switch.

Those talks proved to be a success and the Bulgarian has signed a contract until the end of the season.

The move has seen Petrov reunited with coach Javier Aguirre, who was in charge when Petrov had a two-year stint with Atletico Madrid up until 2007.

He will be presented to the media at the club's training ground later this evening

If he has only signed to the end of the season, I imagine we may we'll be covering part of the wages. Bit like a loan, but him having nowhere to go back to at the end of it.

If they are paying the lot, good luck to them!

Good bye. Can't see many tears over this one. Still losing a player of quality is always a little saddening it just reminds me of the Jardel situation. Well known, decent reputation but only showed glimpses of what he's fully capable of.

Ah well, at least we can afford 3 or 4 more also rans not quite getting into the team.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I notice that since his arrival in sunny Barcelona, Martin has sat on the bench four times, making two 15 minute appearances.

Maybe Aguirre is unhappy with his fitness levels!

Or signed him as cover. Or realised that crossing to no one is a bit overrated ;)
