The small claims court is available as a route to pursue I believe, and the cost of having a summons issue is quite low. However, factor in the cost of the day off to attend court, the petrol and parking costs and you may as well buy a tyre!

Not sure of the completion date. They start to move in sometime next year. It is 25 Churchill Place (near Jamies). 20 floors, though not all will be theirs (they have options on additional floors). I don't know if the total cost of the move is in the public domain yet; it is a lot

BBC saying 'in an entirely unexpected development'... which isn't actually true. The Sunday Times had an entire page devoted to this subject (Ratzinger resigning) only a couple of months ago. It's been flagged up by the Vatican for nearly half a year with little hints dropped.

Maybe we should have a 'today I'm a bit sad about' thread as well as there isn't really one for me to put this. I was meant to be having a meeting with a guy earlier today but got a call from his office to say that he wouldn't be there due to a family issue. Knobhead here said "nothing too serious I hope". Turns out that his daughter was due to give birth in two weeks time, however, the doctors noticed a twist in the tube and that the baby had died. Yesterday she had to give a natural birth to a baby that she already knew to be dead. Can life possibly ever get any worse than that? And get this - the parents get to spend 24 hours with their dead baby.

it can be very important. I have spent time with parents on more than one occasion doing just that...

That's happened to a friends kid

At work yesterday I called at an address where we'd been chasing some lass up who has been avoiding us. TV & lights on but no-one would come to the door. I'm just about to drive off when I see a little girl peeping round the curtains. Assuming mum was avoiding us but thinking a small child could be left on her own, I go back to the door. After knocking for a while the door is opened and 3 kids are there.

Eldest one, who I took to be about 11 or 12 says "Sorry, we didnt hear you. My mums not in" I asked who was looking after them and she tells me "My auntie but she's in the bath". Giving it up as a bad job, I left a calling card but was feeling distinctly uncomfortable. I thought it would be over reacting to call Social Services but decided to do a few checks today to be on the safe side.

A neighbour beat me to it. Police were alerted there today and found mums been going out in early hours on the pop and leaving kids in house all day with no food.

I'm peed off that 3 kids have been left like that and peed off that I didn't follow my gut instinct and report it straight away
