Sounds about right to me; he arrived here the summer before last and we tend to sign players on three-year deals.

Same again..
Set up for a draw and go defensive, despite being shit at the back. Go a goal down and then the formation we should play from the start will rescue us an undeserved point.

I've been to the Baseball Ground on a few occassions, but never been to Pride Park - one more stadium to add to my list. What's the away end.

I think if Medo or Holden are fit, then put them in for Pratley (or even better, for Pratley AND Spearing).. Other than that, I'd go with the same team.BWFC_Insane wrote:Be tempted to play....

I don't think there is any chance that Holden will be fit to play.boltonboris wrote:I think if Medo or Holden are fit, then put them in for Pratley (or even better, for Pratley AND Spearing).. Other than that, I'd go with the same team.BWFC_Insane wrote:Be tempted to play....

And I'd be massively surprised if Medo was anywhere close to starting given he's played one 90 minute reserve game since November or whatever.
Thats where we are weak though. Spearing and Pratley are both triers. But neither are good on the ball and neither drive us forward very well. Thats where we're limited in terms of playing the possession football Freedman clearly wants. I think either Spearing or Pratley would be fine with a Holden circa 2010 alongside them. But the chances of that..........

Re: Derby away
Yep.. I'm trying to like Spearing, as he's full of effort and gets stuck in. But he's just not that good. Limited passing range, tends to waste the ball a bit and it's not often he covers the full-backs.. So often, Mears will show a winger inside and then he has all the time in the world to switch the ball or find a forwards feet.. You can see Mears just looking around thinking "I've done my bit, where the fvck's Jay!"

I think Spearing is also suffering from the "big club ambition" syndrome. He wants to play for Liverpool, and is almost trying to do too much.boltonboris wrote:Yep.. If he keeps it simple, keeps the ball and works hard to win it back, he'll be fine. But it probably won't catch Liverpool's eye.
So he tries too much and wastes it. I don't think he'll be staying for next season, personally.

Re: Derby away
Having said Holden wouldn't start, he's not in the development squad for this afternoon's game.
Neither is Wheater or Medo.
Hmmm...

Re: Derby away
They might not start, but you'd think with how many fixtures we have in the next few weeks that they might feature in some way. Or may have even just travelled with the squad and so aren't available.BWFC_Insane wrote:Having said Holden wouldn't start, he's not in the development squad for this afternoon's game.

It's not a great shame.. We're a Championship team and we have better options returning in his position.BWFC_Insane wrote:I think Spearing is also suffering from the "big club ambition" syndrome. Re: Derby away
I can just imagine Dougie say to Holden before kick-off "right, you're playing the first half but I'm going to pull you off at half-time, then Medo can get a chance" and Holden saying "gee boss that's great; back in the good ole USA we only got performance enhancing drugs at half time".boltonboris wrote:I think if Medo or Holden are fit, then put them in for Pratley (or even better, for Pratley AND Spearing).. It's the farthest from the Away car park... and, last time I was there, a long time ago, inhabited by about 200 people... we won 2-1 though... midweek league cup game...Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I've been to the Baseball Ground on a few occassions, but never been to Pride Park - one more stadium to add to my list. Well I'm getting the train in, and if I can't pay on the gate, well then I'm going to enjoy a pint or eight in the Brunswick and the Alex.William the White wrote:It's the farthest from the Away car park... and, last time I was there, a long time ago, inhabited by about 200 people... we won 2-1 though... midweek league cup game...Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I've been to the Baseball Ground on a few occassions, but never been to Pride Park - one more stadium to add to my list.
