Re: Dawson
"At the moment it's just a loan" ... quote from Dawson himself ??
We have next to no chance of signing him & I still can't imagine that if he is let go then a 2nd Division team is in his thoughts.
Nice to dream tho ... & it is does happen then fair play.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Dawson
i think a few sides would of been keeping an eye on the situation, and if for some bizarre reason WBA do sell him, we'll get outbid.
I just hope that we can extend him until our final game. it would be a massive kick in the nuts IF we get to the playoffs and he's not there. But he hasn't played before coming to us and i think its best for everyone if he does get game time, so hopefully a one month extension isnt out of the question.
Im no footballing fountain of knowledge or know anyone in the game, but from what i can see, we have a really good reputation in the loan market and the facilities to develop youngsters that need game time. If we were to steal Dawson away from WBA would this hurt our reputation and make further loan deals harder?

Re: Dawson
If Dawson does want the move, which seems possible, then we may well get him. I wouldn't rule it out, I think Dougie might just be being coy.

Re: Dawson
If WBA sell Dawson it'll be because they want to. If they sell him to us then presumably both parties would be happy. Therefore the answer to your question is no imho. Bigger clubs wouldn't stop loaning us players for that reason alone.gavlat2872 wrote:If we were to steal Dawson away from WBA would this hurt our reputation and make further loan deals harder?
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Yeah, but, no, butLeverEnd wrote:If Dawson does want the move, which seems possible, then we may well get him. I wouldn't rule it out, I think Dougie might just be being coy.
Surely he should be screaming that Dawson is the worlds greatest centre back and any club would be stupid to sell him, but we'd be willing to break the bank to get him

Re: Dawson
I will say it again, Albion will not sell. McAuley is 33 and although Tamas is in front of Dawson in the pecking order at the moment Tams is 30 this year and Dawson is seen as a key member of the crop kids we have bought or are bringing through the ranks. He is expected to be Albions centre half for years to come unless his performances see the likes of City and Utd sniffing around.
Even if, by some miracle for Bolton, Albion decide to let him go you guys are dreaming if you think he will leave for 1.5 million. Clearly Bolton have not dealt with Jeremy Peace when it comes to transfers.
I hope he stays with you to the end of the season and gets more games under his belt but Dawson, unlike Woods at Leicester (who, don't get me, wrong is a great championship player), is seen by the Albion as having the ability to make it in the Prem.

Re: Dawson
In short, (according to Dougie in today's B.N.) he's with us till season end, but if we get in the play-offs he'll be back at West Brom. This is Dougie honouring his word about improving him and promising to send him back. What happens after that though is anybody's guess?

Not quite till the end of the season. He misses the last game in the league too.TANGODANCER wrote:In short, (according to Dougie in today's B.N.) he's with us till season end, but if we get in the play-offs he'll be back at West Brom. Re: Dawson
I don't understand why the loan deal ends when it does? Assuming other teams slip up and we end up in the play-offs, it'd be a massive oversight to have let Dawson go for those crucial games. Maybe it'll be extended if that does happen.
Either way, our only chance of getting him is if we do get promoted. If we don't, he's not going to drop down a division on a permanent basis. We also can't afford him, unless we get promoted. As nice as the parachute payments are, they're nothing compared to the enormous TV rights that teams in the Premier League will have next year.
If we get promoted, there's a chance because we'll be in a much better position financially and he might prefer to stay with us. If we don't go up, there's no chance.

And it's not like West Brom fan opinions of him are relevant in any way. They may well rate him but it's down to their manager etc.CAPSLOCK wrote:Odemwingie will not be at West Brom in AugustBaggieboy wrote:You mean like Odemwingie? Based on what Dawson has said, it's clear he'd be keen to come here.
Either way though, Dougie will sort us out at centre half for next season I'm sure!

re Loans
53.2 Standard Loans. Subject to the provisions of Regulation 52.3, Standard Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with following provisions:
53.2.1 Subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 53.2.2 below).
53.2.2 A Player whose Standard Loan expires (or terminates) on completion of his Loaning Club's League Matches will not be eligible to play for his Parent Club in any remaining League Matches in that Season notwithstanding the fact that such expiry or termination occurs during a Transfer Window.
53.2.3 Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 53.2.1, a Standard Loan of a goalkeeper (but not otherwise) may be subject to a recall clause exercisable at any time. Any recall may only be implemented in extenuating circumstances and with the consent of the Executive, such extenuating circumstances to be determined in the Executive's absolute discretion. A goalkeeper shall not be permitted to resume any Standard Loan following the exercise of a recall.
53.2.4 A Club can have a maximum of 4 Players under 23 and a further 4 Players over 23 on a Standard Loan during any Season. The deadline for determining a Player's age in this respect shall be 30 June prior to the Season in which the Standard Loan is intended to take place.
