I stand corrected. Straight red for trying to trip the Ref, rather than foul and abusive language as I'd previously thought. Clear as day.Athers wrote:Video to the red card is here

Thanks to whoever took the video (and Athers for posting the link) for clearing this up.
Hope is what keeps us going.

Brighton were well on top, they'd changed system and stuck Orlandi on the left to exploit the flank as we were really narrow. Freedman called Lennie and Curtis off the bench for a proper get together and we made 2 subs that won us the points.
You would never have seen Coyle doing that. Not in a million years. Even if he did, his assistants would've started dribbling and putting cones around each other whilst clapping.

Great atmosphere too today. Thought we were very vocal, particularly near the end when they had a succession of corners. Great to have a really good vibe around the club again

Thanks, Sean - now if you could find the goal and the Habs win it would be perfect.

Not Trotter related, but did anybody see Ian Holloway going on to the pitch at the end claiming he was only just getting his players away from the ref? He did that, but I could have sworn he called the ref a "twxt". Might be just my eyes but.....

Last few weeks, the fans have really got behind the players and the Reebok is a good place to be again.Harry Genshaw wrote:Great atmosphere too today. Thought we were very vocal, particularly near the end when they had a succession of corners. Great to have a really good vibe around the club again
Especially after a 3 course meal on Chiquito's with 2 pints of San Miguel a bottle of Cusqueña and an espresso for 'lunch'.

I couldn't tell he said that, but he clearly shouted "disgrace" at the referee. I'd love to see someone like him punished by the FA. A decision goes for a team and their manager will say "referees have a tough job, we maybe got lucky" but the minute anything goes against them, managers slag them off. It's not fair at all and it should be punished. It's no wonder players like Barnes have no respect for the officials when there are managers like Holloway around. They might be at different clubs but it sets the wrong example completely.TANGODANCER wrote:Not Trotter related, but did anybody see Ian Holloway going on to the pitch at the end claiming he was only just getting his players away from the ref? I agree that Varney should have gone for Leeds but that doesn't excuse Holloway coming on the pitch and being an idiot. He's the type of person you can laugh at when you get a sound bite every 2 weeks, but any more than that and he grates on you. He's as obnoxious as anyone in the football.

Looks like you might have to settle for the Habs win. I had to be satisfied with a gallant effort by the Leafs, who totally dominated the Penns in the third but lost in overtime.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Thanks, Sean - now if you could find the goal and the Habs win it would be perfect.

Indeed - all I wanted six weeks ago was a strong end to the season to stop the carping... I may have been over-rewarded...Harry Genshaw wrote:Great atmosphere too today. Just watched recorded highlights from last night's Football league show. On reflection, it seems I did Alonso a dis-service. At the time, I was convinced his goal was meant to be a cross, but having watched the replay, I think he might have meant it.
It'll be interesting to see how they deal with the sending off. The BBC cameras didn't capture what happened, so the only video evidence is that taking by a fan from the stands, which I don't think is 100% conclusive. I'm pretty sure Brighton will appeal.

On what grounds have Brighton to appeal sending off, if BBC has no footage and fans video is inconclusive. Then all they can do is offer some form of mitigation, unless the Referee comes out and says he made a mistake.
If he did try to trip the referee, he should expect a minimum of 8 game ban, as he has been sent off for violent conduct earlier in season minimum for second red is 4 games but would expect that to be doubled as it was directed at the referee.

Credit to the ref for staying on his feet. You can bet that Tw@ttenburg would have gone down.

As said, might just be me seeing it wrongly but he seemed really flustered when questioned about in in the after-match interview. A man hard to like for me. I might be biased. That Varney dive was in the Ronaldo class.SmokinFrazier wrote:I couldn't tell he said that, but he clearly shouted "disgrace" at the referee. I'd love to see someone like him punished by the FA. Re Holloway, I think at Blackpool he just about trod the fine line between amusing oddball and characature irritant, and most of the time came out on the amusing oddball side of the line.
Since going to Palace, I just see an irritating angry bloke with a head that looks like a giant testicle.

I guess BWFC have more footage of it which will be supplied.Always hopeful wrote:Just watched recorded highlights from last night's Football league show. Also, to add to it all he appeared to refuse to leave the pitch and, eventually, the ref blew for full-time before the guy made a move to exit. That won't go down too well, either.
All in all, a bit of a knob, by the looks of it.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
