I got hte impression JS wasw desperate to stay at Anfield. Then again, if Rodgers says he's not in his plans I'm sure he'd jump at the chance.

Spearing came with the classic attitude of being desperate to be good enough and impress enough for Liverpool to noitce him and give him a chance.

Consequently, IMO he tried too hard, tried too much and tried to look like he was something he was not.

He's great as a battler. He's never ever going to be a playmaker or a creator or anything other than a solid, dependable and very hard working ball winner and tidier upper.

He's neat and tidy on the ball when he doesn't try anything overly complicated and when he does is when IMO his game falls apart.

In the second half of the season he's grown into a very good player for us. I don't think he'll ever match the standard Liverpool will be after as a regular and I think we suit him very well as he suits us.

So it would be a good move all round if the finances can be agreed. Which is probably a massive if.

I still think he won't be here next season, given Kamara's signing.

Completely agree that he isn't good enough for Liverpool - Lucas does that same role and does it better. I'd hope that if we didn't go up he might be amenable to at the very least another loan spell here. I know it's unlikely but I can't see him coming here for good and Freedman might be able to persuade him that if we can keep a settled side here we'd be good for promotion next year.

I do think he's desperate to make it at Liverpool, so if he can be persuaded that he's got more chance of that by another season on loan and developing, showing off what he can do, that might make more of an impact than a season on Liverpool's bench.

I don't know if anyone has heard but he came from Partizan, and accordingly is better than Zidane.

Hahahahahaha. Kamara looks like a beast, hopes that the case

But he looks like a fairly small beast. Him and Spearing in the middle just begs for the ball over the top.

Spearing signed a new contract in 2011 but nobody seems to know for how long, although one site guesses 2015.

Out of interest, the Daily Mail said we'd agreed a £3m deal last summer, but obviously that didn't come to pass and it's hard to say whether Liverpool would want more (if we're interested) or less (to cut their losses).

I thought as part of the loan, £3m was the "option to buy" price? But could be wrong on that.

From my memory Spearing wouldn't commit. He still hankers for a career at Anfield.

That may be unrealistic, but I expect he'll have that as his #1 goal.

But £3m is serious dosh for us these days
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Took his goal well, but he isn't as much of an all-action battler as I hoped he'd be.

I'm not sure I follow?

He's more languid and actually better on the ball than I was expecting, but he's not a destroyer, as far as I can tell.

It had crossed my mind that in the time he's been in the squad, yet not featuring, some of his more exuberant attributes may have been tempered. Judging by the Kettle's approach to dismissal.........

I did think he looked a decent prospect though, nice touch and comfortable on the ball.

What I mean was/is, that he looks capable of playing a Muamba type game (except with a bit more grace), but rather than pressing and playing at a high tempo, he's being told to be behind the ball and keep his position.

On another forum someone at the game reckoned Medo was 'all over the place' chasing and fighting but that Dougie needs to 'calm him down'.

All about opinions I guess.....

I can't comment on yesterday's capitulation. But from previous times I've seen him, he's been a little more cautious than "all over the place". From a tactical point of view, rather than a physical one.. You've seen him as much as I have. What do you reckon?

He looks to me like someone who would be most comfortable playing the role in front of the back four that Spearing currently does.

I believe he said in an early interview that it is where he plays, normally.

He looks neat and tidy and a scrapper to me. But very early days.

I totally agree.. But what I'm saying is that he's being utilised in a more disciplined role than what I think he's used to, or could do. I'm not saying that's wrong either...
