Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
I am absolutely with you both on this one. Apart from the odd game this season, and a couple last year (the brace against Sunderland and the away game against Wolves) he's done absolutely nothing for years. I'd go as far as say he's not really done anything since Sam Allardyce left the club, I still stick by that, it's just taken 99% of Bolton fans a damn sight longer to realise that he's simply ineffective.Peter Thompson wrote:Spot on....boltonboris wrote:He's been past it for 3 years in my opinion, in those 3 years we've paid him over £5m in wages.
Now THAT is fvckin loyalty. His wife can fvckin do one.

Troll and proud of it.

Getting that England cap in 2010 then amounts to nothing?Gail Platz wrote:I am absolutely with you both on this one. Loyalty bonus my arse.
The last contract he got was his loyalty bonus, and possibly the one before that.

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
He played well at times in the 10/11 season. His performance in the quarter final that season was immense, as it was in the 4-2 win over spurs. I cant really think of any performances likr those from this season or even last unfortunately.

It's a nonsense statement from Gail Platz. After Allardyce left, Davies scored in Munich, was instrumental in keeping us up that season, the following season was the main reason we finished 13th and then the season after, again was instrumental in helping us stay up. Remember the "embrace" with Wilshere at West Ham?jaffka wrote:Getting that England cap in 2010 then amounts to nothing?Gail Platz wrote:I am absolutely with you both on this one. Then the season after was a huge part of the run to Wembley, probably the performance of his whole time at Bolton came at Brum in that quarter final.
I think it's fair to say that since then it's been a fairly horrific and rapid decline.
But to suggest he was useless as soon as Allardyce left? Nah, complete nonsense.

I'd agree there was certainly a couple of good seasons after Allardyce left. From memory, the season after he had a complete shocker - fairly sure I'd have shipped him out at the end of that season, but then I think he had a good season the one after that and was top scorer.BWFC_Insane wrote:It's a nonsense statement from Gail Platz. It would be easy to try and compare the impact Davies was having, against a £15-£20m striker and come to the conclusion he was not very good, but given we couldn't afford any £15-20m strikers it's all fairly nugatory as a discussion.
2008/9 the only Prem scorers in front of him were Anelka, Ronaldo, Gerrard, Robinho and Torres.

He's in pretty good company then, because apart from the exception of Ronaldo they've all gone pretty shxt. In fact Davo's probably scored more than that Torres fellow.Worthy4England wrote: 2008/9 the only Prem scorers in front of him were Anelka, Ronaldo, Gerrard, Robinho and Torres.

The season after Allardyce left? Possibly, but he scored THAT goal in Munich which probably clouds my thinking a bit!Worthy4England wrote:

Bolton Wanderers have announced that Kevin Davies will not be offered a new contract at the club.
The striker joined Bolton in the summer of 2003 on a free transfer from Southampton.
Manager Dougie Freedman said: “Kevin Davies is and always will be a Wanderers legend.
“I want to be fair to him as regards his future, as he deserves it. This decision means that he is now free to sort himself out with a new club in plenty of time for next season.
“Being the type of man Kevin is, we sat down and had a chat about the future. He wants to carry on playing, and playing regularly. He has that desire to continue and this is the best move for him.
“I would like to thank him for his complete support and utter professionalism since I arrived.
“He never gives anything less than 100 percent in training, or when called on for first team duties.
“He will continue to be available for selection for the remaining games of the season.”
Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
I think his time has come to an end now, but he will remain a legend.
I daresay he'll still be able to do a job for a few teams, maybe Sheff Wednesday will take him next season.

Well, that's a shitter. Genuinely gutted. From next season, there won't be any players to remind us of the glory days.
