Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
Well this has all turned sour hasn't it? Be fair, the bloke's entitled to be pissed off; he's been told he's surplus to requirements (i.e. too old, too expensive and too shit) by the club he loves and he's been at for ten years.
As for Emma & Nixon and the TalkSport pricks using him to enforce their own agendas, who gives a fck what they think?

Plenty, judging by this thread. Including, presumably, the man who married one of them and was interviewed on the other...CrazyHorse wrote:As for Emma & Nixon and the TalkSport pricks using him to enforce their own agendas, who gives a fck what they think?

Let me rephrase that then....
As for Emma & Nixon and the TalkSport pricks using him to enforce their own agendas, I don't give a fck what they think.
Seriously why take any notice of the three of them?

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
He mentioned shock and [convincingly/truly] sounded in it - was the strange one for me.
He knew exactly how many games he's featured in this season, which means either he keeps a close eye on the stats or he'd been fed the line, but we fans knew this for a while.
On Late Kick Off a few weeks ago they asked him about his contract and he just went through the usual platitudes about working hard and waiting, but with a big sad resigned look on his face.
Sure we'll be able to forget this faux-drama.

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
Bit of a shame if he doesn't get a testimonial for a 5 day technicality but i'm sure the club wouldn't be so petty as it would reflect badly on them. Forgetting the money side of it, there aren't many opportunities for testimonials these days, far less players stay at one club for such a long time, Davies is a club legend for you lot and I for one always feared him playing against us in his hey day.A testimonial would be a lovely way to say goodbye. I went to many of the arsenal back 5's a while back and they were fantastic occasions. Hope he can go out with a bang somehow, shame his wife sounds such a piece of work though. He must cringe every time she pops something else on twitter, bet he eats the piss taken out of him at training!

Nixon wasn't offering an opinion, just reporting that a testimonial was on offer if he wants one.....CrazyHorse wrote:Let me rephrase that then....

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
It's worth remembering that before ticket sales (which are never guaranteed), testimonials/charitymatches do actually cost money to stage: floodlights aren't free, etc. Many people offer their services for free, but Norweb* and the plod won't.
Maybe the club's reluctance is petty - the five-day thing certainly sounds so, although they've made unofficial noises to counter it - but maybe it's a desire to avoid losing money in these financial endtimes. Perhaps if the Davieses offered to foot any (unlikely, but possible) losses.... Emma? Where have you gone?
*Yeah I know, retro

So that's an Eff Ay Cee Tee FACT then! Only, I heard SKD himself say on the wireless that the manager had told him that he wasn't getting one. Hmmm, who to believe? Toughy.BWFC_Insane wrote:

Kevin Davies also said he was shocked he hadn't been offered a new deal and that it had been a "surprise today".Bruce Rioja wrote:So that's an Eff Ay Cee Tee FACT then! Except as pointed out his wife had already tweeted a few days back that he wasn't getting one.
So I'm not sure it's as clear cut who to believe.

You're probably both right. Not mutually exclusive.

I'm loathed to believe anything that comes out of the Davies camp at the moment tbh. His wife was tweeting bollocks all weekend intimating no new deal, but yesterday came as a bolt from the blue!? Bullshit!Bruce Rioja wrote:So that's an Eff Ay Cee Tee FACT then! Only, I heard SKD himself say on the wireless that the manager had told him that he wasn't getting one. Hmmm, who to believe? Anyway, another national journo Henry Winter has stated on twitter he has spoken to Gartside who said a testimonial is on offer, SKD only has to ask.

so - to get back to the thread topic..
if he's available for selection for the rest of the season - then he's NOT going on loan to sheff weds?

Given the interview yesterday where he suggested he WOULD go on loan if a club were prepared to guarantee a permanent deal in the summer, I'd not say it's impossible.thebish wrote:so - to get back to the thread topic..

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
That's not what yer man Dougie said on the fisshal site. Check out the bits in bold.
Bolton Wanderers have announced that Kevin Davies will not be offered a new contract at the club.
The striker joined Bolton in the summer of 2003 on a free transfer from Southampton.
Manager Dougie Freedman said: “Kevin Davies is and always will be a Wanderers legend.
“I want to be fair to him as regards his future, as he deserves it. This decision means that he is now free to sort himself out with a new club in plenty of time for next season.
“Being the type of man Kevin is, we sat down and had a chat about the future. He wants to carry on playing, and playing regularly. He has that desire to continue and this is the best move for him.
“I would like to thank him for his complete support and utter professionalism since I arrived.
“He never gives anything less than 100 percent in training, or when called on for first team duties.
“He will continue to be available for selection for the remaining games of the season.”

If a club comes in for him and Kev wants to go I think he'll be off despite Dougie's diplomacy.

Is the loan window even still open? Or it that the one that shut then immediately opened again the day after?
I'm confuzzled.

I think Dougie was basically just saying that whilst he's here he's available for selection.
It's unlikely at this stage I guess that someone will offer a loan with a view to a permanent deal, given they can wait till the summer but you just never know.
Clearly KD WOULD want to go if that sort of deal was on the table somewhere.

You know it makes sense.
I have to agree - this is all a pretty sad thread to be honest.
