It's more how it's reported by the media. I'm not convinced that anyone in the club will be interested in any case. That's why I said if, with capital letters.Worthy4England wrote:This is in the same class of bollocks as the rest of it.BWFC_Insane wrote:However, IF anyone has damaged our chances of a play-off run it's Kevin Davies doing an ill-judged interview and letting himself be led on by an absolute arsehole on the show, and his wife for stirring the pot on "social media" for the past few weeks.
Why anyone would think the team or the Club are paying the slightest attention to what his missus is saying on Twitter is completely beyond me, with the possible exception of Sordell.
Anyway Boris has already told her to clamp it.![]()
If he himself happened to be causing disruption, it won't be because he's done a fecking interview.
Jaysus wept.
But if there is any sort of a divide (which I highly doubt) it will be the fault of KD and his wife stirring the pot, NOT the club for doing what it has to do.

That's also a one sided view. And I know that when people leave our Club they become pariahs so we like to apportion the blame on them, with the Club being faultless.BWFC_Insane wrote:It's more how it's reported by the media. My point is from both the interviews, no bugger is any the wiser as to exactly who said exactly what, to whom and when. It's unlikely to be as simple as "well it must all be Davo's fault".
That is all.

That would be £35k a week then? after ten years service? Might remember to turn our eyes to the likes of Rooney, Ferdinand, Cahley, Gerard etc, not to mention Tevez, Aguero (edit), add Suarez, and all the rest of the self-serving players who might just accept that as a wage-rise rather than a weekly salary and threaten to leave if they didn't get it?boltonboris wrote:SF, why would the players think Davies has been wronged? They probably look at him and think "how the feck is he earning 3/4 times what I do"
Okay, they play for the billionaire-owned money clubs who can afford to pay outrageous sums to ensure winning pots, and he plays for a small, struggling, in-massive debt club running on the generosity of one man. But, at least up till last season, they played on the same pitches, did the same training and none of them can come near Kevin Davies in terms of uninjured playing time, so they are actually almost equals in all but wage-packets?
I'll readily accept that it's the nature of the beast that's professional football, but the point remains, any hints of self-cervitude are a bit laughable in the case of KD, at least in my opinion. Would a single one of many state "I'm happy here, I like Bolton" on £35k a week? They'd all have their agents on the phone to Quatar or somewhere.
Fire away, I'm bullet-proof.

Aguero and Davies are almost equals in the same sort of way that Messi and I are both humans!!

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
KD has earned a VERY decent wedge for the limited (but effective) footballer he is. £35,000 per WEEK is a LOT of money. Had he been offered Rooney-money to go and play for ManU - then he'd have gone. He's been a great player for us - no doubt - but the whole package has been a very lucrative one for him and his family - he's been paid very well for doing a good job - there's not much more to it than that.TANGODANCER wrote:That would be £35k a week then? after ten years service? To be fair to Davies, I don't think he is particularly money motivated anymore. He was earlier in his career, he admitted as much himself.thebish wrote:KD has earned a VERY decent wedge for the limited (but effective) footballer he is. £35,000 per WEEK is a LOT of money. But yes he's made a very good living from us. He's been good value for that apart from the last two seasons. I think if anything it's the feeling of being "entitled" to another deal that sticks in peoples throats. All players have to earn one and Kev is no exception and he clearly hasn't earned another with his performances this year.
Now, will be interesting to see whether he steps up his game to earn a deal somewhere. In which case he will be guilty of complacency here. If he doesn't and can't step his game up, it will probably show that the bloke is just coming to the end of his playing time.

See, it's this sort of bollox that sticks in my throat. The man's in a "fxcked if he does, fxcked if he doesn't" situation. First of all you go on about "what sticks in people's throats", did you do a poll or don't you have tha balls to say it's you that thinks so? A: he won't be picked so he'll do nothing unless he is, and B: he'll make a difference and get called for not doingit all along if he does. Fxcking brilliant.BWFC_Insane wrote: Now, will be interesting to see whether he steps up his game to earn a deal somewhere. In which case he will be guilty of complacency here. Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
Only if you define 'entitled' in the precise narrow manner you are doing. If you think he's saying he should get another year for ol' times' sake you're off your tits! He think's he's earned one. He's wrong IMO, but he's entitled (geddit) to think he has without being a wanker.BWFC_Insane wrote:To be fair to Davies, I don't think he is particularly money motivated anymore. I'd say he's been pretty lucky.
I he suddenly ups his game it will show what he thinks of this club, as it would show he's motivated by a new deal and hasn't been motivated by the challenges here.
I know you don't accept his shitness this season and last and in your world he's been a Trojan every game, but he really hasn't.
And that is why Dougie is letting him go. Funnily enough a few weeks ago you were using the fact that he was in the squad and had been given new deals by 'professional managers' as evidence of how good he was. You've gone a bit quiet on that front all of a sudden!

Okay, let's look at that then. So you go to the games, form an opinion as a fan, pass it and that's it?BWFC_Insane wrote: And that is why Dougie is letting him go. I don't do that, for my sins, I listen to radio commentaries by profesionals, watch what I can, read all the match reports and even take note of what the managers says. You might note I rarely make player comments on match threads, just pass on what people say, so you can't accuse me of passing personal opinions on any of it. I don't. I don't have much to say at all about performances I haven't seen or slate players, but I do listen to people who are supposed to know what they're talking about. My beef was the fact that you seem to think you only have to say something and that's it, despite what anybody else says, commentator comments or player ratings that, in the main, make Kevin Davies no better or worse that the rest. If you know better then you're in the wrong job.
He's been let go, fair enough. His time's come. The club and manager made that decision and he's gone at season end. So now you start passing opinions he might suddenly start trying in order to impress somebody (given that he gets much game time of course). That's what I'm complaining about. Like I said, he's not winning anything in your eyes whatever he does. No doubt you'll find a new victim to moan about soon enough.

No, I think plenty have said that Kev is not the player he once was and should not be starting every game for us however I do not think many people have said that he has got to the stage where he is just not good enough to be playing championship football anymore.BWFC_Insane wrote:It's hardly just me though. I'm fairly similar to you really, see username. I'm not sure when it changed but at some point I realized that ex-pros and pundits never want to really slate an honest pro. I've never heard a managerial sacking where the pundit or ex-pro has said words to the effect of "he wasn't very good" it's always "should have had more time" and "felt that was a bit harsh" and "well, I suppose it's a results-driven business". They obviously know what they're on about but the people they're talking about are either personal friends, or within the close-knit network of football. It's interesting to me exactly what the pundits say after a sacking, and trying to work out what they really think.TANGODANCER wrote:I don't do that, for my sins, I listen to radio commentaries by profesionals, watch what I can, read all the match reports and even take note of what the managers says.
