SF, why would the players think Davies has been wronged? They probably look at him and think "how the feck is he earning 3/4 times what I do"

That would be £35k a week then? after ten years service? Might remember to turn our eyes to the likes of Rooney, Ferdinand, Cahley, Gerard etc, not to mention Tevez, Aguero (edit), add Suarez, and all the rest of the self-serving players who might just accept that as a wage-rise rather than a weekly salary and threaten to leave if they didn't get it?

Okay, they play for the billionaire-owned money clubs who can afford to pay outrageous sums to ensure winning pots, and he plays for a small, struggling, in-massive debt club running on the generosity of one man. But, at least up till last season, they played on the same pitches, did the same training and none of them can come near Kevin Davies in terms of uninjured playing time, so they are actually almost equals in all but wage-packets?

I'll readily accept that it's the nature of the beast that's professional football, but the point remains, any hints of self-cervitude are a bit laughable in the case of KD, at least in my opinion. Would a single one of many state "I'm happy here, I like Bolton" on £35k a week? They'd all have their agents on the phone to Quatar or somewhere.

KD has earned a VERY decent wedge for the limited (but effective) footballer he is. £35,000 per WEEK is a LOT of money. Had he been offered Rooney-money to go and play for ManU - then he'd have gone. He's been a great player for us - no doubt - but the whole package has been a very lucrative one for him and his family - he's been paid very well for doing a good job - there's not much more to it than that.

I don't do that, for my sins, I listen to radio commentaries by profesionals, watch what I can, read all the match reports and even take note of what the managers says. You might note I rarely make player comments on match threads, just pass on what people say, so you can't accuse me of passing personal opinions on any of it. I don't. I don't have much to say at all about performances I haven't seen or slate players, but I do listen to people who are supposed to know what they're talking about. My beef was the fact that you seem to think you only have to say something and that's it, despite what anybody else says, commentator comments or player ratings that, in the main, make Kevin Davies no better or worse that the rest. If you know better then you're in the wrong job.

To be fair he's right about the rest of it, we should of sold to Sunderland last January, I was hoping as we held on to him he would do great things in a lower league but it hasnt happend. admiittedly he hasnt had much game time, but he just hasnt cut the Mustard for me, unfortunatly we arent a club who can afford Sentiment @ £30-£50k a week (I don't know what he's on !).

I hear the arguments for the way the club announced the news on his birthday, but come on hes not 7 expecting a bike is he ? If I'd been him I would of been suprised if they had given him another year, i think they were more than generous extending it last year. I think all the whinging about it is in poor taste like he says
