Sh*t is it!!!!! I thought my mate kept looking at me strange when I was moaning down the pub thats all I get, a day, interest.thebish wrote:KD has earned a VERY decent wedge for the limited (but effective) footballer he is. £35,000 per WEEK is a LOT of money. Had he been offered Rooney-money to go and play for ManU - then he'd have gone. He's been a great player for us - no doubt - but the whole package has been a very lucrative one for him and his family - he's been paid very well for doing a good job - there's not much more to it than that.TANGODANCER wrote:That would be £35k a week then? after ten years service? Might remember to turn our eyes to the likes of Rooney, Ferdinand, Cahley, Gerard etc, not to mention Tevez, Aguero (edit), add Suarez, and all the rest of the self-serving players who might just accept that as a wage-rise rather than a weekly salary and threaten to leave if they didn't get it?boltonboris wrote:SF, why would the players think Davies has been wronged? They probably look at him and think "how the feck is he earning 3/4 times what I do"
Okay, they play for the billionaire-owned money clubs who can afford to pay outrageous sums to ensure winning pots, and he plays for a small, struggling, in-massive debt club running on the generosity of one man. But, at least up till last season, they played on the same pitches, did the same training and none of them can come near Kevin Davies in terms of uninjured playing time, so they are actually almost equals in all but wage-packets?
I'll readily accept that it's the nature of the beast that's professional football, but the point remains, any hints of self-cervitude are a bit laughable in the case of KD, at least in my opinion. Would a single one of many state "I'm happy here, I like Bolton" on £35k a week? They'd all have their agents on the phone to Quatar or somewhere.
Fire away, I'm bullet-proof.

Re: Davo - Sheff Wednesday
trying to convince us that you have offered no personal opinion about Kevin Davies and it is all just passing on the opinions of others.... i think you'll have a hard time making that one stand up in court!TANGODANCER wrote:Okay, let's look at that then. So you go to the games, form an opinion as a fan, pass it and that's it?BWFC_Insane wrote: And that is why Dougie is letting him go. Funnily enough a few weeks ago you were using the fact that he was in the squad and had been given new deals by 'professional managers' as evidence of how good he was. You've gone a bit quiet on that front all of a sudden!
I don't do that, for my sins, I listen to radio commentaries by profesionals, watch what I can, read all the match reports and even take note of what the managers says. You might note I rarely make player comments on match threads, just pass on what people say, so you can't accuse me of passing personal opinions on any of it. I don't. I don't have much to say at all about performances I haven't seen or slate players, but I do listen to people who are supposed to know what they're talking about. My beef was the fact that you seem to think you only have to say something and that's it, despite what anybody else says, commentator comments or player ratings that, in the main, make Kevin Davies no better or worse that the rest. If you know better then you're in the wrong job.

Jesus. Can't we all just agree that Davo has been a club legend and leave it at that?

Mr Perfect has shoved his big fat ugly face into the debate about KD.

Is my memory playing tricks on me? I'm sure Hierro, Djorkaeff and Okocha all thought they were poorly treated by Fat Sam when they left Bolton.Former Bolton boss Sam Allardyce attacks the club over treatment of "icon" Davies

He just can't resist can he? Any excuse for self promotion and to have another dig at the club.

No-one is owed a living, nor a new contract. Allardyce knows this.
He's just continuing his feud with Gartside. The man has no class, when push comes to shove.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

i do like the idea of forward planning, of taking more than one game at a time... Of seeing the long view.We have worked very hard over the break. We have had a great couple of weeks in terms of our preparation towards Huddersfield, Wolves and Charlton.

No because he's not been a club legend....Burnden Paddock wrote:Jesus. Can't we all just agree that Davo has been a club legend and leave it at that?
He's been a decent player who has had a good career but is now clearly past it....he has been paid millions by BWFC and is a multi millionaire & made for life, but he's been average at best for the past 2 years, he's too slow, lacks movement & mobility and hasn't scored enough goals - time to move on, well done DF....
TBH Coyle should have done it 2 years ago (IMO)

Ah, "us" again hey Bish? I've offered no opinions about his "playing" because, as I readily admitted, I haven't seen it for a while. What problem do you have with that? That I've always admired him as a player is hardly a new thing. Your radio's probably better quality than mine in assessing his worth.thebish wrote: trying to convince us that you have offered no personal opinion about Kevin Davies and it is all just passing on the opinions of others.... i think you'll have a hard time making that one stand up in court!

To be fair he's right about the rest of it, we should of sold to Sunderland last January, I was hoping as we held on to him he would do great things in a lower league but it hasnt happend. admiittedly he hasnt had much game time, but he just hasnt cut the Mustard for me, unfortunatly we arent a club who can afford Sentiment @ £30-£50k a week (I don't know what he's on !).Prufrock wrote:You've written some bollocks on here over the years, but oh my...Peter Thompson wrote:No because he's not been a club legend....Burnden Paddock wrote:Jesus. I hear the arguments for the way the club announced the news on his birthday, but come on hes not 7 expecting a bike is he ? If I'd been him I would of been suprised if they had given him another year, i think they were more than generous extending it last year. I think all the whinging about it is in poor taste like he says
. he cant play forever can he ??Peter Thompson wrote:he has been paid millions by BWFC and is a multi millionaire & made for life
So for me its a case of, thanks for all the memories Kev, give him a testimonial and lets move on

So PT, c'mon, what in your opinion qualifies someone as a club legend and (other than Nat, who's a given) give us some examples of who you'd choose as a BWFC legend?YtarmyYtarmy wrote:To be fair he's right about the rest of it, we should of sold to Sunderland last January, I was hoping as we held on to him he would do great things in a lower league but it hasnt happend. admiittedly he hasnt had much game time, but he just hasnt cut the Mustard for me, unfortunatly we arent a club who can afford Sentiment @ £30-£50k a week (I don't know what he's on !).Prufrock wrote:You've written some bollocks on here over the years, but oh my...Peter Thompson wrote:No because he's not been a club legend....Burnden Paddock wrote:Jesus. Look up the definition of 'legend' or 'a legend' and then tell me that you think Kevin Davies is one and then jog on....Prufrock wrote:You've written some bollocks on here over the years, but oh my...Peter Thompson wrote:No because he's not been a club legend....Burnden Paddock wrote:Jesus.
